Why teach people which don't want to learn?
Those which want to learn definitely can, it is not about the reward but about the activity itself which should create joy.

A person will only try to learn deeper material, ex. Knuth, if they want to, in which case they will.
If the person is however forced to learn the US Consitution amendments by memory, theres a small chance that they will.
Unless theyre a lawyer of course, in which case its a totally acceptable thing to do.
