Sort of like my geology teacher told me. All the geologists in CA live up in the granite on the mountains and what not. Everyone else lives out on mud and silt, so when the earthquakes come, they sure feel it.
This is why St. Louis is really a bad place to live, it's all mud and silt around the Mississippi, and a prime place for an earthquake (was a real big one there about 100 years ago maybe?). If a major earthquake happened there, the ground is so unstable that it would probably level the city.
Basically just repeating what you said, it's not the strength of the earthquake, but what's under you that determines how much damage is done.
I've got a 1.6 P4 in the Shuttle P4 running at 2.0 just fine, temp didn't even rise much at all. I know another guy had a 1.8 running at 2.2 with similar results. The fan doesn't even need to speed up to full speed to keep it cool.
They showed all 4 thus far released Star Wars movies on Fox this past month. I rarely watch them all in order or that close together, but it was quite obvious that Episode was crap compared the first 3. And yes, this is an evaluation based on my current view, not as a 12 year old kid who liked Star Wars back then. I hate that argument. Ah, I didn't even watch star wars much when I was younger.

It'd be even better if the truck I was behind yesterday that said "Eager Beaver" something (lawncare maybe?) was driving on that road.
You almost made a valid statement, sir troll. It's too bad you can't spell or it might carry a little more weight. The hair student thing was a bit uncalled for as well.
Microsoft might have all that money to spend on R&D, but that doesn't mean it is well spent or used. Look at the money to US Government wastes on projects and R&D, and it doesn't always result in anything good. They put a lot of money into security and what not, but it doesn't seem to work. Having more money to work with can give you an advantage, but only if you use it wisely.
Or you download the RedHat ISOs and not pay anyone but the media manufacturer? I think that might be the 'cheapest' way if all you are considering is money.
That's what the 4 at the beginning of the name means. I.E. Interstate 65 goes through Indianapolis, I 465 goes around Indianapolis in a big circle. They don't always have to form a complete loop, but the 4 means 'by-pass'.

Is that near Climax, MI? I had to exit there just so I could so I got off at Climax. Ah. It's on whichever interstate runs E/W across the southern portion of the state.
It was written post world war I, and the author had to leave Germany because Hitler and his people did not take kindly to anti-war literature. I believe the book was banned for a long time in Germany during WWII for sure. It is the best anti-war novel I've read to date. There may be better works, but this book really moved me and modified my perspective of war. (we all know that war is bad, but this book shows how it is truly evil and stupid. Especially when he comes to the realization that the Frenchmen they are fighting are exactly like them, and trying to do the exact same thing, but that he has nothing against these particular Frenchmen, only that he is supposed to be doing it because the government told him it was a good idea.)
I think you could almost say that Saving Private Ryan glorified war. Sure it tried to make us vomit and puke, but it's very easy to say "oh, it's just a movie, big deal" and pass it off. (personally I like conan's PG'd version of Saving Private Ryan where the guy is holding a Daschund like a rifle).
I always found All Quiet on the Western Front to be so much more terrifying and really helping me to realize what war is more than any movie. I think that being a book, plus written by someone who was there really made a big difference, and some of the scenes he describes and takes you through are much more horrendous than just severed limbs.
You can think much much much 'faster' than you speak, especially when you aren't talking. The whole speaking at an audible rate thing kinda hinders that. You can't think too far ahead about what you are going to say, you'll be lucky to know what your next sentence is going to be. Where as if you are thinking, you don't have to actually use the words that you would have used to speak, you just 'think' it.
Ever see people that move their mouths when they read? They are reading at the same speed they speak, which makes me wonder if they think at that speed too. I think the really improvement will come in an input mechanism which greatly improves speed. I can type/speak at about the same rate, so one of the advantages typing has over speaking is the ease of entering commands like "move this window over there" or "open this menu and click save". Maybe they should find quicker ways to enter data using our hands and fingers instead of our mouths.
holy crap, how is that funny? i posted it and I don't even think it is funny, and it's definitely not worth wasting mod points on, what's the matter moderators, couldn't find something more worthwhile to mod? Sheesh.
Yep, I see it as you can give $1000 to man running the homeless shelter, or you can give $10 to each person there. The guy running the place will tell you he knows how to make better use of it, but it probably won't benefit those who need it as much as giving it to them directly did. I'd much rather pay the artist directly than someone else. You would think that artists wouldn't have to rely so much on labels and whatnot to get publicized so well today.
Hmm, yeah, I have yet to get any virus e-mails actually in a long time. Last ones I got were about 2 years ago. I also deal with a large number of people, so my address isn't exactly private.
There are hundreds upon hundreds of mild quakes every single day. If the usgs website calms down, go take a look at them all.

Okay, here's my GPL'd C++ code:
// eat me eat me
#incldue
void poop(eat poop){
**int foo = &
while(1){foo;}
}
It's GPL'd so it must be good!

'They' meaning the editors I assume, didn't put it there, the person who submitted the story did.
I just want to know what my 'away' is. He said 'your away'.
Time is sometimes better to give than money. Volunteer with your time and posessions instead of your wallet.
Or more practically, training for military who are at risk of being captured and/or tortured. It might need some modifications for that.
okay, so I give them each $10 in foodstamps then.

I know, I just wanted to be a jackass. Ones that would make it practical are expensive too.

They have these nifty things called projectors that can "project" an image on a wall in any direction you choose.
