  1. Yeah, he claimed he would date her if she wasn't his daughter. This video sums it up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

  2. Haha, so Donald Trump doesn't want people opening hate websites against him so his solution is to snatch up all the potential domains. How is someone so insecure and egotistical come even close to being a suitable country leader? All a foreign minister has to do to win him over is claim that he'll grow extra large hands and better hair if the US bends over backwards for their country.

  3. There's a difference between a "defect" and "breaking something". The former case involves a flaw in the design of the hardware itself and is the manufacturer's responsibility to fix. Apple is selling these phones knowing that there are issues with the touchscreen and that is where the problem lies.

Overly Entitled would be true if someone had dropped and cracked the screen but still blamed Apple for it.

  4. Unenforcable anyway. on China Bans Ad Blocking (adexchanger.com) · · Score: 1

I doubt they are going to check every computer for Adblock. Either banning ad blocking was an unintended side effect of overly broad language or the brains behind this legislation is clueless about technology.

  5. Something to hide eh? on China Bans the Use Of Social Media As a News Source · · Score: 1

Only reason any government would do this is if they have a lot to hide. I wonder when the lid of secrecy will be blown wide open (much like what happened to several shady organizations with the Panama papers). They can't hide their dirty secrets forever ;).

  6. Re:corrupt world on The Pirate Bay Sails Back To Its .ORG Domain (cnet.com) · · Score: 1

The US has granted the entertainment industry way too much power and it's abused like crazy. Nobody fights back because our pockets are not nearly that deep.

Why should ANY private business have laws crafted to protect their profit margins or be able to force others to pay their bills to fight piracy (ISP's are suffering for it all the time including being forced to cut off their own customers in some countries). Not to mention that the industry is never satisfied and continue to make whiny demands for tougher anti-piracy measures like the spoiled brats they are.

One day, something has to snap and the entertainment industry will be put in their place. The humbling stick is bound to smack down hard on them sooner or later; let Karma take its course.

This was my grade 10 computer science class in a nutshell although I don't blame the teacher; the curriculum was the issue.

Instead of learning how the computer actually works and how the different parts fit together, everyone one slapped with a bunch of disjointed terms to memorize without any context surrounding them. If only schools would drop this "one size fits all" approach and understand that there is more to learning than just "memorizing things". I did far better in the practical classes such as mathematics and the later computer science classes as they were purely programming.

Lastly, I am reminded of this:

I wondered the same thing. Another case of an overpaid schmuck who neither deserves his wages nor does he know what he is doing and airline customers suffer for it while he lives the life of luxury.

Forget removing him though, the whole TSA system is useless and needs to be dissolved. It failed most of the tests where fake weapons made it through but it sure annoys countless passengers rather successfully. Likewise, it has not foiled a single terrorist plot to date.

    Why does this even exist??

  12. Fear driven laws on Before I Can Fix This Tractor, We Have To Fix Copyright Law (slate.com) · · Score: 1

This is what happens when the government allows the entertainment industry to have their way with legislation. Overly prohibitive laws void of any common sense when enforced that creates obstacles that should not exist. It's a Tractor computer; not the latest hot selling album or movie.

These copyright laws exist because the entertainment industry has a death grip on antiquated business models where they always maintain tight control over their content. They don't see the need to change because they are too busy chasing pirates.

I agree with this article. Sending an angry e-mail is akin to getting revenge in that you are upset and want the other person to know it. This may feel satisfying at first but it tends not to end well.

Either it opens the door to escalating matters (should you receive an even ANGRIER response) or the sender reads their message after calming down only to be horrified at what they said.

  24. Re:sega channel on PlayStation Now, Sony's 'Netflix For Games' -- Pros and Cons · · Score: 1

That could work but the period of time before rotating titles would need to be greatly increased because games take waaaaaay longer to beat nowadays than back in the Sega Genesis era. For example, you could blaze through Sonic the Hedgehog in maybe an hour or less but even modern platformers have a 10+ hour play time before completion (unless you are speed-running or insanely good at the game).

Sony's current pricing scheme is not going to work as it's just way too much for little time. Hopefully the excess is just to fund the project and complete development and NOT the final rates (much like the game which costs $75 for early access although I cannot remember its title off-hand).

  25. This story is REALLY uncanny because I am about the do the same thing only in my case, it's not just for the Oculus but everything in general. For example, I like 3D movies a lot but it's a pain either choosing between blurred vision or wearing TWO sets of glasses on my face obscuring the quality of the image in the process. Also, certain headphones are a royal pain to wear as they push the arms of the glasses into my cheek which can get rather painful after a while. Just $2200 though? Mine will be more than that but I guess it depends on where this person is getting it done and how bad their eyes are.
