This type of system seems pretty commonplace in Britain, in both onstreet and car park situations, at one time a local hospital even had the system. Admittedly in my area at least on street parking is only about 6 parking spaces long, but even so this pay and display system just works.
how did an article like this manage to get onto slashdot when it was spawned from the daily mail, in britain second only to the sun for stuff like this
Finding 40 women willing to eat chocolate daily: easy.
Finding 40 women that will agree to NOT eat ANY chocolate for a year, as a control: yeah, good luck with that.
This could be fun, imagine for a moment:
person: what is the meaning of life?
operator: 42
person Takes the word of operator as gospal, due to the lack of a certain book, concequently spewing false beliefs around a village. Who is going to stop the information from being read out of context?
It seems to me that the only thing proven on this exercise is that iPods are simpler to use than tapes only. I say this on the basis that I am only 2 years older, and if I questioned myself or many of my associates, almost 100% would know, and understand about settings and sides on cassette tapes. So the only other conclusion I can seem to draw is that a gap of 2 years was the time it took for tapes to vanish almost permanently.
although, many of the roads in the UK are tarmac anyway, and the gravel roads are generally farm tracks or other private roads when cars are travveling down the gap is about 3 hours opposed to 3 seconds.
Small problem with that, you cannot send a link to someone with a broken computer (which if they are having problems, being non technical, is highly faulty in their opinion), unless they have another, but then they would not be overly concerned to repair it.
If that made sense.
what about sealing the whole setup (includinng cat) in a box. And ensure that there's an exactly 50% chance of the button being pressed. That way the EULA has been accepted and not accepted at the same time until you open the box.
I think the phrase you are looking for is "corralation does not equal causation".
I really love how (presumtuously accidentaly) your signature really embodies this entire article.
Wireless?
Remember, don't iPlayer and drive.
Couldn't you simply run your connection through a Tor style service, which exits in the uk, and veiw iplayer via that? Or would that be too slow?
how long do you estimate a fork with a "normal" interface will take to appear?
I wonder whether this would function correctly on the iPhone, because apple cannot restrict this, it is only JavaScript after all.
I'm afraid you will have to deal with it, because that is the best what is currently available.
Because this is slashdot, and this is how slashdot works.

Everyone famously knows tomtom runs (GNU/)Linux, and uses FAT formatted memory cards, just ask Microsoft.

split your losses... Use the p38 on the camera
I wouldn't sit around on the chairs for too long though.
I'me sorry? You have no one to nuke, so you are turning them on your own country? This has left me bewildered!
well, I have a feeling that the queen will refer to the iPod as "the thing" (also strictly speaking it is a listening device)
so what are you if you get ranked as offtopic? an useless lump?
If people saw Tux when he starts up, imagine their response? Ohhh, cute laptop.Ohhh, cute penguin
