Eve Online uses a company stucture for its guilds/clans etc
However i dont think all guilds/clans/corps will evolve the same way, thats more down to the players involved and who has their hand on the collective rudder.
Goldtouch v. Microsoft Corp. (W.D. Tex.; Fed. Cir.; W.D. Wash.) In the Western District of Texas, Klarquist Sparkman obtained summary judgment that Microsoft did not infringe a patent asserted against Microsoft’s IntelliMouse® Pro and IntelliMouse® Explorer computer mice. See 102 F. Supp. 2d 722 (W.D. Tex. 2000). The Federal Circuit affirmed on appeal without opinion. In the Western District of Washington, Klarquist Sparkman obtained summary judgment that the Goldtouch mouse infringed two Microsoft patents.
Microsoft was bullying a lot of small developers at that time.
Not only did they lose their suit, but were found to be breaking two patents belonging to microsoft.
As an avid gamer with multiple platforms (360, DS, PC) im usually buying 3-6 games per month depending on releases.
I use the metacritic websites aggregated score to get a feel for what people are thinking.
if i see something compelling i check for video footage to see if i like the art direction, usually on gametrailers or similar site.
Then i read some reviews OR i speak to people i know have played it or have worked on it.
Lastly if its a sequel that i have played before i replay it or use my memories of it to decided wether or not to buy.
tl;dr my decision on buying games is based on 10% - aggregated review scores 30% - video footage 40% - word of mouth/in depth review 20% - previous history with game franchise or developer
That's really nifty, and I'm sure it works ok and everything, but... how much does it cost?
Figures cited by Iceotope show that the average air-cooled data centre with around 1000 servers costs around $788,400 (£469,446) to cool over three years. The Iceotope system claims to eliminate the need for CRAC units and chillers by connecting the servers in the synthetic cool bags to a channel of warm water that transfers the heat outside the facility. This so-called “end to end liquid” cooling means that a data centre, fully equipped with Iceotope-cooled servers, could cut cooling costs to just $52,560 - a 93 percent reduction, the company states.
taking the above figures into account as long as the cost to install is under the 200k figure theres an incentive to switch
One of the most braindead decisions by Bioware is to limit you to four, to make story dependant on who you pick (only people in your part comment and get affected by choices)
If you make bad or particularly good decisions the guys you left out of your party will talk to you about it when you return to the camp, i lost about 30 favor points with alistair for leaving him out of redcliffe and taking the wrong choice for the moral dilemma.
ive managed to bring him back up to where hes no longer openly hostile tho:P
i pre-ordered on steam, preloaded on thursday, got it unlocked friday, played for a few hours then over the weekend moved to a new apartment, i wont have internet for another 2 weeks at home.
im still playing DA:O and my DLC is working fine, stats say im 19% in to the game and i havent had a problem.
footage was 'slipped' into one of the speeches during fanfest last year and they also showed off the planetary interface. this has probably been in the works for the last two years already.
i look forward to it as it will add a new dynamic to the mmo while giving a new view into the universe. i have an xbox and an sli-pc so if it comes out on either i will be happy.
what lasts 30 minutes is a skirmish, any battle can be made up of several 'escalating' skirmishes with each side upping the ante each time.
Example
Battle for a system in querious started at 6am gmt, i set my alarm so i would be up for it. local fills and by 7am we have 600, several groups move out of the system and start locking down other systems. fighting begins with small scale skirmishes between 6 and 7.
fighting in earnest begins just after 7 when the enemy start busting through our camps, each of those fights take 15-30 minutes, our forces start to let them through and we rally in the target system.
8am enemy uses Titan jump bridge to drop a similar number of players on to us. next 3 hours is spent in constant quick fire skirmishes with hundreds of losses accounted for on both sides.
after downtime its a race to form up and the battle continues for 6 or so more hours.
its now 6pm, the dust has cleared, we held the field and fought off the enemy this time. 12 hours have gone by where i was either fighting with someone screaming targets over teamspeak or i was re-arming/repairing or getting a new ship to get back in the fight.
what we need is true classless games like eve to take the fight to the consumer. no game should be won or lost at character creation, but through the choices you make in advancing your character as you play.
ULTRACORE!!!
GODLIKE!
i wanted to write to you all in glorious morse code but slashdot doesnt like it

but half baked opions taste so good.
this is a feature that i actually love, its very useful during large fights to plot out AOE and cone spells/abilities

30 minutes? i think not.
a good combo is to make ammo while running missions, then use the LP and your manufactured ammo to order faction ammo from the LP store.
then haul it to low sec neighboured systems and sell it. you can easily make your first billion in a few days.
Then start playing the market.

black and white is boring, grey is where its at.
