    Yes, it does seem to be happening a lot recently. Suspiciously so... And it should really stop since the majority of the casinos profit comes from slots, and if people stop trusting them, they stop playing them as much, and the casino tanks. Even more so, since this is a well distributed and common type of machine, if it happens at one casino, it will affect all of them. (Unlike having a dealer arrested for cheating, which mostly affects that one casino.)

    What if the cure for cancer was found and based on a rat gene? (Rats are so cancer prone, I doubt it, but you never know.)
    What if an artificial womb was developed that can deal with extreme medical emergencies? (Mother dying of car crash and baby/embryo way too premature, or mother infected with horrible disease, or going to die of cancer without treatment that would abort the pregnancy, etc) (ie, not convenient party slut excuse)

    Just because some stupid politician got freak out by a distillation of "The Island of Doctor Moreau", he scares up support for a bill to ban what he feels is the worst thing possible (even though there's no way it'll happen in less than a 160 years), with no regards to everything else he's banning, and the lives he's dooming to pain/death because of his irrational fears.

    Unless he's just afraid of furries, in which case he's still a douche that should be buried under a yiff pile. (That is what they call it, right?)
    Heck, I'd pin on a tail and ears everytime I was near him just to see him freak, or get pissed. The stupid with power need to be dealt with.

    I'm in the USA, and yes, I have been yelled at for holding the door by a female, even though I was actually holding it open for the guy in front of her because it was more polite than letting the door slam in his face.
    So yes, there are many fools who mistake politeness for sexism.

    Of course, the problem here is policy to screw over patients because a doctor forgot to write and term of politeness that is used to indicate a request on a form instructing a needed action to be performed.
    Please is for requests, not requirements.

    (As some other people have mentioned, a number of doctors get overblown egos, yeah, it happens, and that may be a reason to toss stinkbombs in his Audi, but when you start f'ing with MY medical care because of it, you deserve to get a tire iron to the skull.)

    Actually it can often be worse than that, it's known to be disingenuous and tends to degrade the value of actual politeness.

    Also, saying please tends to indicate a non-binding request for compliance.
    If my doctor wants to run a blood test (and the I the patient don't say "screw you"), the other hospital personnel don't get to say no.
    It's totally non-negotiable on their part, even if he's the biggest asshole in the hospital.
    Hell, it's not even direct communication, it's a written NOTE.

    It's just not bloody professional.

    Don't forget their earlier document had a massive problem, they had forgotten to wipe their editing history and you could easily review where they had done global search and replaces for god to intelligent design, etc.

    Kind of blows a massive whole in their argument that Intelligent Design isn't Creationism under a different name.
    Guess they're just as stupid as the government people that send out documents with redacted info that's only hidden by a black bar and recoverable with a cut and paste. (Unless they actually wanted to leak the info... Hmmm, I'll have to think about that.)

    Although there have already been studies done on the effects of electromagnetics (both power line equivalent, and cell tower equivalent) done on bees that haven't shown anything significant like that.
    Of course, there are a couple of things to pay attention to here.
    One is, those previous studies didn't stick actual phones in the hives.
    Two, this ones sample size is far too incompetently small for any reliable conclusions to be drawn.
    and Third, it's being reported by a particular 'paper' that has less fact checking than an illiterate and dyslexic flat-earther's blog on orbital mechanics...

    So basically if you ignore anything in that article, it's pretty bloody unlikely that you're missing anything of value to anyone with functioning braincells.
    (Heck, you'd probably be better off getting your science news from the Daily Enquirer or Entertainment Weekly than the Telegraph.)

    That's just my opinion, but if you go over the b.s. they've posted (printed?) in the past, you'll probably agree with me.

    Hmmm, here's an idea, the problem with their hive was the queen kept monopolizing the phone and gossiping about her drones to another queen somewhere.

    They're everywhere, and not enough of them are getting Darwin Awards even when they deserve them.

    Now I'll admit it's terrible that she got hurt, but let's face it, how stupid could she be to blindly follow a map into traffic?
    What if a fire had engulfed the area, would she have walked into that just because a map shows that as a viable route?
    I don't know about you, but I tend to avoid getting in the way of high speed multi-ton solid objects, I understand about inertia and kinetic impacts.

    Guess she should sue her parents for neglecting to teach her not to walk on roads with traffic. Or perhaps for not making sure her, as an adult, didn't do something so stupid, and then have the audacity to blame someone else for her death-wish activities.

    Especially when it's out of their field of expertise.
    For example:
      The Mathematicians don't make fonts, that's something the Graphic Artists do
      Graphic Artists don't know jack about math symbols, they leave that to the Mathematicians.
        Etc, ad infinitum...

    Someone finally got off their 'whatever', found out what symbols were most needed (that probably took 1 year of questions, and 13 years of arguing.) and actually put them into a font. The rest, we sure hope wasn't a waste of time. :)

    Of course there are a number of bands that release songs to the public for free.
    You can copy and distribute them without fear of infringement.
    There are even big bands owned by RIAA that do this for some songs and even albums.
    Heck, one of those hides usb drives with copies of their songs for their fans to find and enjoy, they've even hidden them in the bathroom at their concerts.

    Basically, you can't be sure that it is, or isn't, an illegal copy if all you know is the band and song name.
    (And sometimes it can be downright freaking difficult to find out, especially with RIAA just automatically claiming that they are all illegal, even when the band who's song is being asked about publicly states the RIAA is off it's freaking nut since it's not even covered by the label and was independently released by the band for free as a promotion.)

    No, I'm not going to dig up all the sources to the various events I've mentioned, but they all exist, if you google enough, you will find them. Have fun :)

    1. No human was infected with a computer virus.
    2. No computer virus was transmitted to a computer from a human.
    3. Either he's extremely stupid or just a media whore.

    The chip holding the virus was physically located in his body, but it in no way interacted with his body. If that's his only standard then every driver of a car is a cyborg that receives radio signals directly to their brain.
    Actually, even that stupid statement is more true than what the british moron said since some interaction between machine and operator exists in a car/driver situation. Unlike that douchebags situation where he's being a convenient tabletop or pocket made of flesh that thinks sticking something randomly inside your body is some kind of breakthrough.

    Is that creep the same one that earned the nickname 'Captain Cyborg' for is stupid and false claims of being a cyborg just because he jams things in his flesh that have no other interaction with his body and will still do their exact same function if in a shirt or pants pocket, or even a handbag? I bloody hate that lying duplicitous media whore conman...

    Shortly after geek was being used in a non-negative way to refer to computer enthusiasts, geekgirl started being used for clarification purposes due to the extreme gender bias people have of thinking of geeks as an all male group. Heck, I even went to college with a girl that had a binary square tattoo that was ascii for geekgirl.

    This entire case reeks of horse manure in my opinion.

    I heard about this stuff when I was a little kid in the 70s. Definitely not anything new.
    There was even a movie (inspired by the real ones) that used this as it's gimmick.
      (I forgot the movie name, it was boring, the ad was the most exciting part.)

    They've trained various ones for guard duty, e.o.d. duty, and sabotage duty.
    Hopefully they've improved their training and gear by now, it has been a very long time...
    (Please note, I have no idea when they started this stuff, just that I know the info went public in the 70s.)

    In this reality it can happen, they stole code, period. We are no't talking about a hobbyist, or joe blow on the street, but rather a software company that yells and screams whenever anyone else 'violates' their copyright or heavens forbid, actually make an unlicensed use of their code. So if violating someones copyright on software makes it ok to steal their code, then I guess we're all allowed to do whatever we want with Max Payne 2, since it incorporates stolen software. If you steal a pickpockets wallet, you're still going to jail for being a pickpocket. An eye for an eye just leaves a lot of blind people stumbling around.
