  1. From the "who cares?" department on Google Lively Review · · Score: 1

So its a new Web 2.0-esque masturbation party where people can chat with avatars, instead of on AIM or god forbid, calling them on the phone. Its overcrowded, underpowered, full of spam, and doesn't offer anything compelling. Do we pimp everything Google does? Does the term "Google fanboy" suddenly have meaning?

  2. ignorant voters, dont worry on Obama Losing Voters Over FISA Support · · Score: 1

He wont lose any significant support, since nobody knows what FISA is anyways. Sally Soccermom wants Change, and knows that The Iraq is evil, and Obama is more attractive than McCain, so he'll win.

A bit tongue-in-cheek, but I'm also serious here - what is the benefit of having thousands of geeks compiling the same code over and over, when you can download 1 binary distribution and be done? If you sum up the manhours of all this compilation, the power consumed by countless hard drives and processors churning away, whats the point? Just so you can have a 64bit Firefox that Flash won't run on? A 686-optimized kernel, connected to the Internet via 768 kbit DSL?

This means that the vast majority of society, the parasites who know nothing other than consume, consume, consume, will finally wither and die on the vine. As the world's overloaded infrastructure breaks down, governments will either disintegrate into anarchy, or police states. The trick will be to live in a country that chooses anarchy. Only then will people have the perspective to realize what a mess that they've voted into existence, and perhaps start again on better footing. A little revolution now and then, is a healthy thing.
