No it can't. That may be so in whatever state you are in, but not in Washington, Florida, Kentucky or California (though California may have changed recently- I haven't lived there steadily in several years).
Forgive me, but I do not see any points at which we are necessarily in disagreement. To quote the Wizard's 10th rule: "Willfully turning aside from the truth is treason to one's self."
I think you were mostly upset about my use of the term 'propaganda.' There may be negative stigma behind this word, but it is not necessarily implied. Google says propaganda is simply "information that is spread for the purpose of promoting some cause."
It is all relative. Freedom fighter, or terrorist, it is all based on the observer. If you want to argue about something you should bring it beyond semantics.
I would bet the life of my cat that this is going to lead to the criminalisation of wardriving. Thanks Google for being douche bags. An accident you say? Yeah right.
Free speech sometimes encourages behaviour against the institution.
When I entered high school the internet exposed me to anti-Christian propaganda. This led me to think about my belief system in a more analytical way. I am sure there are some people in Utah who would like to have removed my access to all dissenting religious thought for the same reason.
People who want to limit your access to information are trying to control how you think and how you act. People should do what they feel is right, and most importantly their actions should be the result of a well informed thought process.
Surely Nadal's actions were not efficient. He did not change anything, but he made his choice. Now he's dead. But you can hardly say he was a child who was indoctrinated by some internet posting.
Nobody would dispute the value of exercise, which we know through experience and observation over thousands of years.
But congratulations nonetheless:)
What makes this kid so special? I know several kids who go to school and live in the woods or in their cars. Not only is it cheap, but it is green and teaches valuable life lessons on perspective...
It seems like I have a continuous stream of mod points and usually receive more points the day after I finish spending the last bunch. After awhile it begins to feel like a responsibility. I am a fairly ignorant person and as such do not have anything productive to contribute towards most discussions, so do not mind helping moderate...but is it possible that some individuals are in the same boat as me, and are just negging people because it is fun?
I think you should only begin receiving mod points after a couple weeks of browsing, but not be given points with such a high frequency until you fulfill some sort of karma/time requirement.
You are right to criticize many of our pessimistic views, but I think you are neglecting to reflect on the integrated nature of censorship. Look at existing systems we have available and how they have been misused, and now we shouldn't be critical of giving them a new toy because it has been ideologically white washed into something easily digested?
Even if we are to trust our government, there are so many factions and so much bureaucracy that many times the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing. Who is to say that this technology will not be misused in the future? Why wait for the bud to blossom when you can pull it up from the roots?
Politicians are supposed to be the tools of the people, to give the government too much control is to offset the balance of power set aside for each party within the social contract and be counter productive to democracy and civil rights. What is more American than that?
Police raided a gay bar in Texas, on the basis of public intoxication...on the very anniversary of the police raiding a gaybar in New York! One of them is even in the hospital because 'his brain is bleeding'.
I shit you not sir.
A problem we have here in Washington is something like 5000 people a year die of drug over doses. Much of the time, someone could of called it in but were afraid of being prosecuted for the drugs (heroin and meth usually). Members of our legislature are trying to make it so only people who provide or sell the drugs can be prosecuted.
You are partly correct, but I want to believe that exploiting individuals will only justify the security theatre in most people's minds. If people hacked with 'integrity', then their activities would not lend themselves to exageration and manipulation by the press and the government.
For every dollar stolen there is ten being given to some other corp to secure their systems, fear mongering laws and your tax money being spent.
From Wikipedia:
Game design is the process of designing the content and rules of a game. The term is also used to describe both the game design embodied in an actual game as well as documentation that describes such a design.
I think you are confusing game design with game programming. If you are designing the game, then you would be in charge of coordinating with the programming team (not actually programming).
First you should develop a clear image of what you actually wish to do:)
No. If you had read 1/10th of the comments posted, you would of read that the money is being used for political activism. They knew the spirit behind TPB could not be sold.
Do I count? Logging in is a pain in the @$$ :/
This sounds like an easy way to avoid the Net Neutrality debate and move the internet as we see it ever closer to obsolescence.

Flame me if you will.
If Google tells you to jump off a cliff, are you going to do it?
Don't use your machine for work. Or, if you really want to, just dual boot it and let them do whatever they want with that partition.
Nobody would dispute the value of exercise, which we know through experience and observation over thousands of years. But congratulations nonetheless :)
I don't even own a TV.
I accidentally mod'd this down. Sorry. Hopefully it will go back up after posting.

No, you get a message from the advertiser announcing that they do not support your carrier. This is the advertiser though, not the games themselves.

The Iranian government has already tried movie marathons. Perhaps people were tired of LOTR and they could try playing "V For Vendetta" ;)
Machines last longer if it is in use, and the estimated cost of running SETI is a measly $1 a month.
Well said! It is a shame this article didn't receive more comments.

My good friend, the same thing is happening over here :(
