Now, Google can deliver your eyeballs to advertisers by routing the vehicle past billboards that have paid them to do so. Also, I can see the nanny state evolving into this: The car says --- "I'm sorry, Dave. This would be your fourth trip to a pizza parlor this month. According to clause 123.62.21 5(b) of the Citizen Obesity Prevention Act of 2014 this trip is being re-directed to Veggie Heaven. The order for your salad has already been placed for you, Dave. Enjoy your salad, Dave. Following your dinner, you will be delivered to the gym to complete your required one hour on a treadmill. Have a nice day, Dave."
The first time that a "driver-less car" runs over a pedestrian, or is involved in some other traffic fatality, the resulting trial and damages will bankrupt Google. I can already see the trial lawyers salivating at the prospect of collecting their percentage of the money awarded to the victims.
Nonsense. The war ending strategy of the Japanese Government is summed up in their slogan: "100 million die together." They preferred death to the dishonor of surrender.
The last thing I would change is that all campaigns be publically funded, each candidate gets a very generous amount, and any other "contributions" are treasonous bribery resulting in a death penalty for the candidate and 20 years in prison for the one "contributing" the money.
Why don't you consider public funding of a candidacy to be "an entitlement"? Why should people who receive "welfare for politicians" be allowed to vote? Who decides who is eligible to receive "welfare for politicians?"
I have never quite understood people's fascination with public financing, aka welfare for politicians. Why do you consider it to be a panacea?
Salem, je serai à New York le 25 janvier, on va exploser ACN, si vous avez des contacts référez-les moi.
Translates to:
Salem, I will be in New York on January 25h, we will explode ACN, if you have contacts refer them to me.
Having read the actual message, I see nothing wrong with contacting the sender and letting him prove that he is merely a blowhard marketroid that is prone to use hyperbole. If the authorities had seen this message, not acted, and ACN had literally blown up, the monday morning quarterbacks would be howling for their heads.
Unless they are busted in a FBI corruption sting, I'd say your chances are about zero.
Even that doesn't always work. Voters re-elected Charles Diggs to Congress (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Diggs) while he was awaiting sentencing on federal corruption charges. That makes me so proud to live in Michigan
"Start with making campaign finance taxpayer-funded and make campaign donations illegal."
Why do you think that "welfare for politicians" would improve anything? What if I don't want my tax dollars going to politicians and wanna-be politicians? Are politicians going to decide which politicians get tax payer funding and how much? And you don't see a problem with this?
When I was on Jury Duty, I asked how they could get away with paying less than minimum wage. They had no answer. I told them that "no one is above the law."
The punishment depends on who you are. Clerks get fired. Nurses may get fired, depending on whether they are in a Union or not. They may also be suspended without pay. It varies. The last time that I really looked at this, I could not find a case of a doctor a being fired for a HIPAA (yes, that is the acronym....it has nothing to do with hippos) violation. They might be suspended without pay.
Google joins a long line of outsiders that had the arrogance to believe that they could step in and "fix healthcare." Google Health had some nice features, but their product has been overtaken by the marketplace. They also hitched their wagon to CCR, and that appears to be an evolutionary dead end.
Given Robert Fripp's well documented disdain for "common practice" in the music industry, I think that this is highly unlikely. This is one of my favorite Fripp quotes of all time: "It is the opinion of most musicians that the music industry sucks. This is because the music industry sucks."
There are still some of us that use legacy applications that will only accept data and commands in upper case. I would guess that none of the googlers are likely to have much experience with these, however.
I like the actual name (and acronym) of the bill better: Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act (CALM Act). I find myself wondering how much money they spent coming up with the name and acronym.....
The Royal Navy has had five ships named "Invincible"
1. The first Invincible was a 74 gun ship of the line built in 1765. She was lost in 1801 during a gale after being driven ashore.
2. The second Invincible was another 74 gun ship of the line built in 1809. She was scrapped in 1861.
3. The third Invincible was a central battery ironclad (Audacious class) and was built in 1870. She sank in 1914 while under tow to a scrap yard.
4. The fourth Invincible was a battlecruiser (name ship of the class) and was built in 1906-07. She blew up following a magazine explosion at the Battle of Jutland in 1916.
5. The fifth Invincible is the subject of this article.
Was Obama "seeking input" when he responded to republican ideas by saying "We won." ?? They had meetings where he "listened", but none of the opposition party's suggestions made it into the bill. Is that your idea of "bipartisan?"
I would have used The Who -- The Punk and the Godfather, which contains these lyrics....."Now you know that we own you."
Went around putting EDS stickers on anything that looked like a computer.
I was there, too. We moved the stickers around after they left for the day. My favorite was the urinal that had a dozen or more EDS stickers on it.
Using distance from known transmitting stations to determine your position, eh? It sounds like they just re-invented LORAN.

In my town, council was using email before, during and after meetings to script votes. It cost one of the ringleaders his seat. http://www.annarbor.com/news/leigh-greden-apologizes-to-ann-arbor-city-council-colleagues-for-his-role-in-e-mail-scandal/ Use the ballot box to teach the buggers a lesson.
Larry Niven already told us how this will end in his story "The Jigsaw Man" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jigsaw_Man

The only reason why they're aiming for young people is because they are dirt cheap compared to an experienced programmer.
The most expensive thing in the world is cheap help.

I thought that we decided many years ago that "I was only following orders" was not a valid legal defense.

You're holding it wrong.
Also, Columbus Day isn't even a real holiday. Like President's Day, it is a "Bankers and Civil Servants Holiday." The rest of us have to work.
