The increase in dns traffic would suck too. An extra retry here and there may not seem like much to average joe, but when you're supporting thousands upon thousands of users, that adds up very quickly.
I'm not sure which horse you rode in on, but we're gonna have to take it out back and whip the shit out of it for a second. You're not going to stop people from calling crippled software 'shareware'. Period. Don't ever bring it back up. Any program that has been crippled and has required payment to become fully functional has been called shareware since the days of the BBS. Just thought you might wanna save yourself a lot of time and aggravation, and save the rest of us from reading about it.
The weird part is they don't actually show you the blood, death, gore and destruction. Not really. Try watching Al-Jazeera to confirm what I'm saying. They actually show the bloody battles and what the after-effects are. The US candy coats everything with fluffy language and new 'terms' to describe what is taking place, and leaves it to your weak imagination to fill in the details (which is probably why so many people felt so good about the war in Iraq, or at least enough to re-elect the fucknuts we still have in office)
Oh yeah I remember. I believe you nailed the numbers right on the spot. Man was that an awesome way to get warez or what?! All those 'proggies' (FateX I will always remember) to shuffle the emails around and around and serve your fellow brother with whatever he wanted instantaneously. Those were good times. But some of the chats were pretty hard to get into, which created the necessity for the chat breakers. I remember a program that tried thousands of times in just under a minute to get into a channel.
I can't believe AOL let all that run as long as it did. I did it for a couple years at least...
No one remembers that game anymore. Just the other day I was mentioning to my friend that I hope they release that for the Wii, and he had never heard of it before. That game RULED!
WTF? How are entire islands being wiped out and we know less about it than how many celebrities are pissed about hurricane katrina? I mean I know less, and I've never heard this brought up as a topic of conversation before, so I assume nobody I know was aware of this either.
This shows that the current state of our media (even with the advent of the Internet) is abysmal to say the least. Not to mention it kinda shows how self-centered we are (forced to become).
Honestly, Dungeons and Dragons was always a bit too much for me... and the fact that someone can recite all that nonsense about prongs being parallel to the shaft and whatnot is a scary.
I've always been a nerd and always will be, but that is beyond nerdism.
You hit the nail on the head with that argument. That was exactly what I was thinking. Seems to defeat the purpose of blocking html e-mail.
Most html exploits are going to just link you to some stupid site that will actually rip open the security hole and infect you with god-knows-what. The e-mails themselves most likely are not going to be the culprit, but the actual website they so cleverly link you to will.
Hell, half the time the links aren't even clever. Phishing attempts are the worst if you have half an idea of what is actually happening when you browse the web. It's not hard to recognize that going to 122.235.151.62 is not the same as going to ebay.com to fill in your username and password information. But apparently even the DoD has completely clueless users... just the same as any other institution/corporation I guess and blocking html will be the easiest and cheapest fix I would imagine.
I agree. I will make a stand however and be hated for it forever.
Thanks Dr. Phil. Let's do lunch babe.
I just burned all my mod points on my last slashdot visit on stupid stories. Figures something good is posted right afterward.
I'm not a huge fan of animated kid movies, but I rather liked Flushed Away. It's sad that it didn't do well enough for the duo to do more movies.
Completely correct. What the hell? This was nearly a daily occurrence in Houston. Even so, who CARES?
Sometimes you also have to call a queen a queen.
You are a queen.
Like leader, like slaves?
Da-da chhh!
All we really need is 1.21 jiggawatts.

No.

That depends on how drunk dad gets.

Good times.
If I had mod points parents and gp would be modded interesting and informative :)

Err... MySpace?
You should be plenty proud that you've dated girls and are able to post about it on slashdot. You're a hero and an inspiration to so many here!
I for one welcome our cybernetic space overlords.
I remember reading all about how the next wave of ships would be powered by artificial muscles! bubbles != muscles.
