But then again hasn't science shown us that what we think is impossible now, turns out to be commonplace in the next 50 years? Even things we never realized, and would have thought impossible become ordinary.
They already do this. Its a supplemental income for nearly all tv sitcoms. Couple this with the fact that they try to create television shows that will put people in the mood to buy, and then place certain ads in the commercial breaks. We are fish in a bowl, and ads are our water.
I would imagine this could create a larger market for shell providers. Just run a private socks5 server with user name and password, to bounce into a p2p service, for an extra $5-10 a month. I think it will work. Hell I already do this.. only I don't have to pay for my shell.
This must explain why I get about a maximum of 2 k/s whilst downloading from Grokster, Kazaa, Bearshare, Imesh etc etc... I actually miss my cable modem back home... I used to get a good 100k/s normally on these p2p apps.. now that I'm in college its not even worth trying to use any of these... thank god for friends with a bit of knowledge.. In the next couple weeks I'll be beta testing a new p2p sharing which my college won't know about and limit my bandwith.. this will run through IRC so it should be a change of pace..
anyways just thought I'd rant about how cable kicks my college's ethernet's ass...:)
I'll bet they do! What did you think would happen when you sat at home all day jacking off to her music videos? You'd only releived some stress? Sorry, now your brainwaves have succumb to the awesome powers of the big breasted babe. Now that its part of your brainwaves you can never forget her. Hi, I'm Jim. I am the founder of M.B. Mutated Brainwaves, I'd just like to personally welcome you to our encounter session....
Time for the rest of them to get a new job. This was going to happen whether anyone foresaw it or not. If you even gave it 10 minutes' time for thought, you would have concluded in the first 30 seconds that this is how it would turn out. I remember my dad predicting this way back about 8 years ago or so. At that time I didn't think it was possible, but many things have changed since then.
Personally I'm glad. Hollywood is too big for its britches, and for no good reason either. They don't produce quality entertainment anymore.. hopefully this will help.
We'll have our say when those congressmen finally decide that they'd rather ban their "all-expense paid" trips to support charity in luxurious hotels and resorts. They also play tennis with pros, get treated like royalty, and get even some cash perhaps. It's all free, it's great! Why ruin a good thing?
All they have to do is give them just 1 measly vote in a certain way. One vote won't hurt. Right?
Not when most of them will take trips.
But really, I don't see how we can possibly compete with that.
There sure is a lot temptation for them to vote in ways contradicting to their constituents' wishes. Not only by lobbiests, but their legal parties are another major factor in their decisions. I wouldn't be surprised if many of them didn't take certain trips and sway their votes just because they knew they would catch hell from their peers in party.
That puts us out of even more power. Because if the party disagrees on something that we voted on, how many times do you think the congressman is going to sway from the party's decision.
I think a third grader could've written better. Seriously.. if you're going to brag about how good your paper on DOOM is, at least write it well. Lazy/stupid bastard.
for future TVs they implement a feature which would allow you to hide/view the little logos. That makes much more sense to me, unless the broadcasters are afraid people are going to tape their shows and steal credit.....:P
That would be great. Until someone unveils their new exploit, or worm, and DDoS' the central fingerprint server. The problems that would be caused to that server everytime somebody came out with their newest attacks would be innumerable I'm afraid.
I had the same idea a while back myself.. but I myself wouldn't dare hassle with it. Perhaps there is some brave soul out there with the time and resources to fend off the countless attacks.
Perhaps MS has a deal with the hardware industry. We make bloated software that requires new guts for users' computers, and you make the parts required to run our software.
They've already done the AIRPLANE CRASHING thing... I'll bet you a 200 mhz cyrix 686 that they aren't going to do that again. I'm sure they've got tons upon tons of other means. That was the first thing I thought when I watched the WTC crashes. 'What else is going to come, surely that can't be all...'
If I were the gov't I wouldn't be so much worried about the planes and jets anymore, but perhaps buses, trains, etc. You can't do the same tricks to death.. sooner or later people catch on and I know they know this. Get over the whole plane thing now. Its not very likely at all to happen again in the near future.
If any of you can remember taking American Government in school, one of the first things you learned(or should have) is that your rights *CAN* be restricted, in order to protect you and society. Try cracking a joke about your laptop being a bomb in your local airport... you'll see what I mean.
It is the function of the government to protect you and all citizens. When it is necessary for them to restrict your rights, in order to protect, then they may do so. Whining and complaining about it won't help. Its basically for the good of those affected.
Apparently they haven't done a very good job now have they?
But on the other hand, this was completely unexpected (obviously). In the future I'm sure there will be better security checks, and more security-type regulations for airlines.
The question that remains in my mind is how many other ways could they have done this? How many other tactics could they use to commit more terrorist crimes? One less hopefully...
What the hell are you talking about? Perhaps you should've read the article?
DivX is a compression scheme used to decrease the size of movies without much loss in quality. Something similar to MP3 but for video. Next time try to post something that has to do with the topic at hand.
You expected something else from the internet? Fact is the only reason I use/. for my news is because of the comments users post.. not necessarily the stories or great journalism. I think all news sites should be like/. because that's the only way you get most of the story correct.
Wow it's amazing how well this ties in with all the anti-ms bullshit that has been floating around slashdot lately.
Boycott XP? What the fuck. You're either going to buy it, or you're not. I seriously doubt they are going to change the price over a few measly boycotters.
They're pretty much assured all their clients will be running XP. Like when 95 came out, everyone switched. If you didn't you missed out on a lot of software because 3.1 couldn't run it.
So how about ya'll clam up. If you don't like it don't buy it.
Not to mention it wouldn't be going back to the script kiddies because the kiddies were running the DDOS off many other computers.. not their own...

God I'm bored..
Better suggestion: Turn your belltones up really, really high.
Did you just snort a fat line of meth? Where did you come up with that idea?
It ain't right man, it just ain't right..
A disadvantage of not having one and being an insomniac would probably be paranoia .. ;)

Just a thought..
Wish I could mod this one up. Very well written.
I've got really, really bad writers cramp... only its more like carpal...
It's already been done.

Yeah but where would you put the 200 lb camera? On top of the monitor? I don't think so... :P
