I must be the only one on the planet who thought The Orange Box for PS3 was absolutely fine. I first played all the way through Portal, HL2, Ep1 & Ep2 (because you can't really "finish" TF2) on PS3, then later on PC. I saw absolutely no visual difference (both played at 1080p on the same monitor) and the game play felt exactly the same just with different controls. I'll admit TF2 seems a lot choppier and laggier on the PS3, but I just chalk that up to the fact that PSN sucks. So what's the big deal?
Only recently did I discover the greatness of BFG's graphics cards. I just bought a BFG GeForce GT 220 back in December and I absolutely love it. Plays all my Source games flawlessly (that's all I really play anyway). Why, oh why, did I ever waste my time with other manufacturers? Maybe I'll upgrade my card again soon just to have another one before they back out of the market...
You can't lump everyone with large piles of "stuff" into a "hoarding" umbrella. I, for one, have three distinct sets of "tech stuff":
Spare parts. Anything from the Pentium III-era and up that could be used to repair/replace a friend or family member's existing computer. I often take spare parts on partial trade for work on newer machines.
Collection. I am a collector of rare and odd technology. A few of my friends collect strange tech as well. We trade amongst ourselves and find things for each other, just like collectors of anything else, like coins or Elvis memorabilia.
Random crap I should throw away. I'll admit, some of it is hoarding, or just sheer laziness and procrastination. I just need to organize the legitamate spare parts from the junk and throw it all out.
Now, I'm not condoning war or murder or terrorism or anything like that, but would it be at all ironic (and hilarious) if this lead to a an American "war on Islam" à la the "war on Canada" in Bigger, Longer & Uncut?
I code part-time at work (it's secondary to my support role) and some weeks I'll put in a good 30 hours of coding. It all depends on my other workloads and what I need to get programmed that week.
I'm pretty sure he was watching Howie Mandel at the time (who often performed the trick in his stand-up acts, but with a latex glove instead of a condom).
...which has a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom CPU, not a 3.2 GHz PowerPC and seven Cell CPUs. The PS3's "Other OS" feature allowed scientists, developers, and engineers to implement the Cell processor for a few hundred dollars per unit. Now if they update their firmware, all that work goes to poop.:-(
You still have your privacy. You still have your own personality, your own thoughts, your own opinions, your own emotions, etc. These are yours to have and keep and no one can ever take them from you. No one can ever invade them or inspect them without you first giving them away.
If you choose to use a service offered by Company-X, then you must agree to their terms. If they want to monitor how you use their service, so be it. And if you don't like that, then you can either switch services or drop off the grid entirely.
Ditto. Except I had a couple years of Linux "tinkering" under my belt before jumping ship from Windows altogether. Once I locked onto Ubuntu 8.04, there was no turning back. And now the shoe is on the other foot. I recently started "tinkering" with Windows 7, since I've been so far removed from the game.
As long as the price for byte was fair I would have no problem not having an unlimited plan. Based on the above post, maybe charging $10-$20 per GB downloaded might be fair. Everyone seems to want unlimited access, but the only people who benefit from that are a) the people who use a lot of bandwidth, and b) ATT who gets lots of money from low usage users.
Amen. I've been avoiding 3G phones like the plague because I simply cannot justify the $30/mo "data tax" that comes with them. If I check my e-mail and look up map directions a few times a day, I'm gonna use maybe a few hundred MB per month. I would gladly welcome $10 per gigabyte or $1 per 100 MB, etc. since that's all I'd ever use. I'm pretty sure AT&T would draw in more customers who, like me, can't justify adding nearly 50% to their monthly bill.
They need to upgrade their 3G network and I fully intend to max out my 3G connection driving around town during lunch on Friday.
Yes, great idea. Make sure you keep your eyes completely off the road at all times. In fact, try to steer with your knees so both hands can be holding the phone.
I'd like to see them track my BMs with Google PoopSense.

It's probably my OCD talking, but this has always been my problem with touch-screen devices as a whole.
time to move to India. Who's going with me?

Would it still be called "New York", since York is a British city? Wouldn't it be something like "Nouveaux Bourgogne" instead?
Thanks to the home buyer tax credit, I (and many others) will be getting a refund in excess of $8,000.

Hollywood is run by morons.
One could argue the opposite is also true. ;)

Not news. Chrysler does this in most new cars: uconnect
Or how about "it only does half the things we originally intended".
He advocated a computer 'for the classes, not for the masses'.
Jack Tramiel's Wikipedia entry.
Um... wiki article says:
It was during this time period that he coined the famous phrase, "We need to build computers for the masses, not the classes."
This. Now get off my lawn or I'll txt teh copz n ul b sry.

Am I just too paranoid?
Yes.
...just because you don't like it. You're not Microsoft, you know. zing!
Security through obscurity. They simply assumed that no one would be able to pick up on it.
That is proper grammar. "Military" may be plural or singular.
But do any of these new sea slugs produce ADAM?
