One possible reason to ban Atom use is that Apple may finally have decided to enter the Netbook market. Killing the competition just prior to the launch of your own product makes sense. I imagine an Apple Netbook as a device with a 9 or 10 inch screen that operates like an iPod Touch. It might run OSX, or it might run iPod Touch OS. It could have a cover over the screen that folds/swings under the device while in use. A $500.00 price point would be about right for such a device, and it would probably sell like hotcakes. I'm sure I'd buy one.

Not to mention easier to understand for those of us who have not adopted the metric system. The US has been moving to the metric system for nearly fifty years, and I have no reason to believe it will happen in my lifetime. Anyway, to get back on topic, seven meters is pretty big, I think, at about 21 ft. The nice thing is that since most of Earth's surface is water, the likely hood of a water impact is greater than that of a land impact, and since there is a lot of uninhabited land area, even that isn't too bad.

Of course, if the participants think there is a chance of death, even if a rescue is allowed that they don't know about, it might be OK and not taint the results.

Remember this all took place back when war wasn't so sanitary. We should be doing the same sort of thing in our current war. Obviously the current operations aren't working so well. I don't think we should have been in Iraq in the first place, but if you're going to start a war, you should be able to finish it with a win. Remember the old saying, "All's fair in love and war"? You do what it takes to win, whatever it takes, and you do it quickly.

Even so, if there were life on Mars, don't you think we would have already seen some sign of it? If intelligent beings live there, even under ground, the rovers should have seen some evidence of it. The intelligent life should have noticed our rovers by now. Unless you assume that after all these supposed millions of years the only intelligent life could be neanderthal types. What else do you suppose could be there? Perhaps worms? Does Dune come to mind? I see no evidence to convince me that any type of life exists on Mars, now, or ever.

If some nut job is afraid of genetically engineered food, I'm sorry, but GE food is preferable to artificial and corn sweeteners in my opinion.
