Here's something I wrote about their PVR. It's not the HD version but I wouldn't be surprised if they had the same problem. The article is located here.
I am currently leasing an Explorer 8000 wich supports digital video recording (DVR).
This DVR and I have a love-hate relationship. I must admit that watching TV will never be the same. I don't watch more TV, I now watch better TV.
But boy I hate it...
It's crippled by, as far as I know, inexcusable bugs. Here's a quick list of the ones I noticed so far.
* Duplicate recordings result when recording "all episodes" of a show. Simply a waste of space.
* Misses the first few seconds of the scheduled time. Why can't I be able to set a default start and end offset? For example, start 5 seconds before the scheduled start time, and finish 5 seconds after the scheduled end time.
* the DVR doesn't display how much time is left to record. It's like driving without a speedometer.
* Watching a program as it is being recorded in "delay", that is the show is still being recorded while you start the playback at the beginning, the DVR will kick you out of the show when it stops recording. Probably the most annoying bug of all because you then have to reselect the show from your list of recorded shows and fast forward to where you left off.
I can't see how hard it would be for Scientific Atlanta do fix these bugs. If they send me the equipment and their SDK, I'll do it for them.
Time Warner (Austin, TX) is about to push a new firmware revision to all Explorer 8000 DRV boxes (non HD...for now) that will enable a drive meter that will tell you how much storage you have left. Also, this new firmware revision is supposed to fix quite a bit of other bugs as well. I will see if I can get the whole list and post the revision changes.
Looking at the third picture. I think to myself:"how the hell did we go up there, with what looks like glue, all over the spaceship. It looks so cheap!"
I really don't mind the fact that they call there product BETA. You don't have to download or use BETA software. Why are people complaining? Those products are free.
Be patient and wait for the official release. Pretend the product never got released.
I use Gentoo also but I must admit that doing "emerge -u world" scares the crap out of me. I'm always scared to mess up my system. But I've been lucky so far.
First off, I hate the fact there's only a little paragraph of text, then I have to click on "next". What's up with that? I didn't have the patience read the whole article.
So far, I've grown a loyalty with Logitech products. Always have been great for the price.
It's one big story! What, do you want them to stop doing kung fu now?

You know what sucks? Spending $200 on a nifty Garmin GPS unit only to find out that you have to spend another $200 on detailed maps.
The Garmin Legend came with a "basemap" of major highways and major roads, but there are no detailed streetmaps cuz you gotta buy Garmin's CD's for that.
This new unit it pretty expensive, but what how much do you have to spend for the friggin maps?
Sounds like they are using a strategy similar to what the printer companies or doing with ink.
He's cheating on you.
Agreed. Here's some more issues I'm having.

How Napster used to be.
Should be cool but a DVR is a must to take advantage of this feature.
RTFA. Freeciv is mentionned in the article.
What about Explorer 8000 from Scientific Atlanta? I love it and hate it. I have a little blog about it here.
You're probably talking about this
Here's something that might interest anyone who's looking for the extra boost in perfomance in Doom 3.
I'm not sure how well this company is going to do. Reading the interview it's clear that they're making huge mistakes marketing wise.
Hopefully they learn from their mistakes fast.

He's not the father?! Sounds like an episode of Maury...
I agree with you. I believe a lot of the Microsoft coders are actually linux users/coders anyways.
We have to pay the bills.
Would you consider working for Microsoft if they offered you a job.
To tell you the truth. I always liked the "feel" of the book. The book looks a lot heavier than what it really is.
I just love the Addison Wesley books.
You know a little too much on this.....
I hate the fact that you have to look at this remote to use it.
I've had more time to play since I started working. when I finish work.... I finish work. No need to think about projects or studying.
Having a wife and kids that's what's going to make me move away from games.

The "kung fu" scenes are getting really old,
