Gotta agree with you here - was hoping womeone would mention this.
I too did MU120 last year as a referesher before committing to a BSc in Computing. I found it excellent and the online forums are very useful for discussing stuff through.

100 mph on a british motorway is quite normal in a reasonable vehicle and especially if you got a nice car.
Large stretches of motorway are still camera free, and the police a a little more tolerant so long as you dont go OVER the 100 mark (you should at least keep your licence).
The law states 70 mph, but personally i take that more as a guideline....
think i can get a "panic button" style thing that plays the sound of a shotgun being loaded?? that would be cool. most crime around here is kids anyhow and that would put the fear of g*d into them
I guess you are talking a Centrino or Viiv style "agreement" on a set of standards for Gaming? or just for PC's in general.
For gaming, I guess the Direct X concept partially serves, though it would be nice to buy a game that states "Min Spec = XXX Standard 1" "Rec Spec = XXX Standard 2".
Im saying this after just buying my new PC and finding that i cant run GRAW on High textures,....... grrrrrrrr
Since when is using somebody elses work then punting it off as your own considered the RIGHT way to do things????
Really, i do not agree with the less than subtle methods of the music industry, but placing the work of somebody else in your own then distributing it to friends is certainly not within any grey area that i can think of.
Most (some anyway) companies are happy to allow people to use their work in this form (especially if educational), with permission, and the right of parody is protected, but when you encapsulate the work of another person in something, then send it around saying "hey look what i did"... that is downright wrong.
And i think that the main angle of this article is looking at how DRM affects fair usage, not the right to plagiarise
women really have the full opportunity to choose a different lifepath than that of the housewife.
I think this sums up perfectly what the parent is claiming... What if women want to be a housewife??? societal opinion frowns on those who do, even to the extent that gameshow hosts ridicule the role. Sure, they have a world of choice, but some are more acceptable than others.
Personally I would love to be a house husband and am planning with my partner how this can be achieved with me giving up my income. Everytime i say this to someone I get comments of either "thats no objective for a guy" or "thats not fair on your partner".
So i think the parent is right, sure society enables us to take on the roles we want yet frowns on us unless we make the "right" choice.
The sig is actually a quote/catchphrase from a brit comedian called Vic Reeves. Based on the state of the British Judicary... chances for justice are truly negotiable
I will hae to contradict you on this im afraid. I have yet to work in a job in the UK where discretionary or compassionate leave is not given. Similarly, people with kids often take extra days off for care.
Also, most official bodies and larger companies allow flexible working hours so you can be where you need to be when you need to be there.
Finally, my last 3 jobs have all allowed me to "buy and sell" holidays days.

I think Bill Oddie (ex-goddie, twitcher and pseudo-hobbit)summed up parental opinon on teenage sex adwquately.... "We are all just jealous coz they get more than we do and look better doing it" (paraphrased since i heard the interview about 10 years ago)
All them people doing X sounds like a very beautiful thing if somewhat 90's.

The price tag is very reasonable too
Thankyou, couldnt agree more.
Been saying this for years.
Wouldn't that technically be Lenovo's fault for putting an OS on hardware with no driver support?
Sure MS have their faults, but they dont install every machine
I don't know, oldies today....

Straight is sure preferable, but hey if they wanna go both ways.......

Everyone has heard of Bill Gates, but only geeks have heard of Linus Torsvald(SP?)

Not trying to imply anything, coz i can't carry an analogy, but you do realise that crap on rose gardens = fertilizer don't you??

I must admit to always thinking that the Car Analogy should be included as a form of Godwin's Law.

eno: Just wanted to offer support for one of the rare guys who actually seems to love, respect and mostly enjoy the company of their partner.
I understand the pressure to get married as I'm 7 yeears with my girlie and everyone else thinks we need a piece of paper.
It annoys me that in my job out of the 12 blokes here only 2 of us ever really talk about our partners with any degree of affection.
Oddly though, when I mix with my non it friends this figure increases.... Is it geeks and women??? am I just lucky to have a Dr Who watching woman.
The converse goes something like
It is better to keep quiet and let the world think you're an idiot, than to talk and let them know for sure.
Cant attribute that either.
more power to the curious!
