    In the face of economic terrorism and a complete lack of juristic integrity I suggest a repayment schedule of $1.00 per month until the death of the defendant.

    If I were compelled to pay (and had anything to take) I would destroy all cash, property, etc to deny the mafiosi their big score.

    Better to destroy everything of value than yield to terroristic demands.

    Actually if MS could just stop trying to re-invent the wheel every few years with a "new improved" version of Windows the hardware would catch up to XP, and to a certain extent it already has http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/features/2008/apr08/04-03xpeos.mspx. IMHO, all of this has the one laptop per child program at it's roots.

    My prediction is that a fully functional mini-netbook will be mass marketed for $99.00 by Xmas 2010.

    I was working for IBM when "Independence day" came out, and when Jeff Goldblum hacked into the alien spacecraft all my co-workers an I said the same thing, we can't get Windows programs to work in OS/2 but Goldblum can program in ET code.

    A good used bookstore has got to be one of those things that I always look for when I move into a new area. In the 60's there was a great little no name used bookstore in Chicago (on the window it just said "used books") run by a bearded hippie named Lothar and his cat Leo, my friends and I would sit around on folding chairs in the evenings and discuss everything from Communism to Symbolic Logic, drink coffee and eat cheese blintzes. Used bookstores are a necessity and should be patronized and nurtured.
