  5. MTS... (grr) on TV Over Phone Lines To Arrive In 2005 · · Score: 1

    First, to keep it on-topic:

I come from a different school of thought - I've run into the artifacting issue only once or twice, but I rarely watch TV anyway... MTS TV has seemed to be OK in select areas (Read: Winnipeg St. James) but YMMV.

(And now for the offtopic, and the reason I post without Karma bonus: effin Bisons. They really gotta change their marketing strategy. Manitoba to MTS: The "Great bison (buys on) cell phones" joke died SEVEN EFFING YEARS AGO. For those not in Manitoba, they've been using bisons in their ads ever since then. Kinda like the Verizon Guy, but trust me - it's much more annoying being deluged by those effin MTS ads.)

My personal favorite is "Mocap Boxing".

This is one where you put on two rubber "boxing gloves" and punch and dodge.

That's right - DODGE. Machine reads the position of your head and shoulders. If you've seen Police 911 (Police 24/7) it's the same sensor overhead.

This whole "certification process" sounds a lot like how the "Nintendo Seal of Quality" worked - when you get right down to it - make sure the product does not have any obvious bugs (or in the case of FIPS - security holes), and that it worked - which basically made it something that looks nice yet means nothing.

  20. Re:Death Knell for the Simpsons? on Simpsons on the Silver Screen · · Score: 1

Speaking strictly from a Transformers standpoint...

Transformers post TFTM had a RADICAL change of pace from the original 2 seasons. They changed too much - and a LOT of people didn't like it. Back then, when I was in Elementary, there were 2 kinds of people. People who liked pre-TFTM (Read: Optimus or Megatron) and post-TFTM (Read: Rodimus or Galvatron)... The series tanked because it was a cash cow... The storyline started to go downhill BECAUSE of the cash cow-ism.

Now, Simpsons was never merchandise-centric (it was not CREATED primarily to sell toys/shirts/etc) but quite frankly, by the time the 3rd movie comes out, it'd be a Made-For-TV Final Episode movie. Many people are sick of the Simpsons... and 3 movies is 2 movies too many. They'd make a decent-or-better first movie, a second one that kinda sucks, and the third - Death. Kinda like TMNT ;-p

    At least, that's my opinion.

The other day on Kudlow & Cramer (CNBC), I happened to see Ms. Rosen along with someone from the EFF...

Among the usual FUD she spreads around, Ms. Rosen would poke at the person from the EFF. Quite frankly, it was the first time I saw her on TV... It was funny, the person from the EFF didn't poke fun at her, and Ms. Rosen ended up looking stupid ;-)

Shows what happens when you channelsurf and just stop it on CNBC for a few seconds. The first words I heard her say were "everything for free foundation" and I almost fell off the couch laughing!
