Maybe georgewad is quoting himself. georgewad does that sometimes when georgewad goes into third person mode.
I think of 'sic' as meaning 'left intentionally' which is not quite the literal translation, but captures the spirit of applying sic to a quote. This makes it a little less ironic, if no more proper.

Don't know if you're trolling, spreading FUD, being sarcastic or serious, but do you have any more info on this alleged 'update'? I've not seen any info and there's no update on apple's website.
it's not 35% profit, they need to pay for storage, bandwidth, programmers, sysadmins, advertising, etc. I don't think they make a killing. The labels, however...
It's NOT ok for MS to do things that other companies are allowed do. They have been convicted of abusing their monopoly position in the market and unfairly using this monopoly to stifle competition. That makes them different, and any activity that seems to benefit themsemves becomes suspicious.
You might be trolling, but I'll bite. I rented in SF for all of the 90s and watched rents skyrocket when rent control was eroded in 1993. This was just after the weakening of building code for 'lofts' for 'artists' which ended up being 'condos' for 'dot.com millionaires'. The scacity of housing in SF is mostly due to the fact that it's only a 49sq mi chunk of very desirable land. Overregulation may be a problem, but it's certainly not the biggest one.
both you and original poster are right re: justice. Jurors are 'instructed' to follow the law. If a juror refuses to convict becuase they think that the law is unjust, you'll either get a not guilty or mistrial. After a mistrial or two (or 10), the prosecutors eventually stop retrying the case. IIRC this happened to Kevorkian, and will probably happen to this guy.
Personally, I can't fault a man for not citing Iron City Beer. Which is aweful. They used to make a Golden Lager, which was passable, and IIRC, they're the local franchise for brewing Sam Adams, which isn't bad... Interesting fact, er, claim, in the 80s, SAE at Carnegie Mellon was listed as the third largest single purchaser of Iron City in Pittsburgh, after Three Rivers and the Civic Arena. Don't know if it was true or not, but certanly plausable.
I agree, and I think (hope) that Apple knows this and looks the other way. IMHO it's in Apple's interest for there to be TPM that's breakable if you REALLY want to break it (much like iTunes DRM). This way, only someone who know what they're doing will be able to run OSX on non-Apple hardware - no worries about supporting a crappy handmade POS, but still putting OSX in the hands of the more Crafty interesed geeks.
>Nobody, NOBODY, has a right to limit interconnectivity of devices. True, but I'm guessing that Apple has set the license fee to just below the cost of reverse engineering and manufacturing a third-party connector. I know that the pin-outs aren't public knowledge, shame, too, 'cause I'd like to rig some stuff...
In practice "difficult to find" + "poorly documented" + "occupied design" = proprietary. Only the market will tell if they're charging a reasonable amount for the priviledge or extorting money because you don't have a choice.
>do you think anyone selling headphones with a >standard 3.5mm stero plug should have to pay Apple for it?
No, but if you wan't to put a sticker on it that says "made for iPod" of if you want to use Apple's proprietary connector then yes. Or at least maybe. I think Apple is pushing it a little too far.

Lame attempt at humour. I'm using 'sic' to point out the intentionally non-Americanized spelling of catalog.
Certainly adds fuel to the rumors of the Beatles catalogue (sic) showing up on ITMS.
Man, you should relax. It was a joke. dood.
Do you have children? Grand children?

itms has sold 8 million since mid-October.
Lots of pictures, too.
The prestige folks probably go for the smaller units, which are less bang for the buck.

There would be no security.
