...get the geeks to use it. Then everyone else will use what the geeks are using.
Getting Windows applications to run at decent speeds on Mac OS X will be easier now that they're moving to x86 CPU's. That will help with both #1 and #2. Also note that Windows has been moving more and more hardware-independant... 3.11, 95, 98, NT, 2000, XP... That only helps.
It's nearly impossible to find 93 octane in California. There is one "specialty" gas station I know of that carries 93 in Los Angeles. But in general, the highest you find is 91.
So, yeah, all the Mercedes-Benz's and BMW's and Porsche's in California are all running on 91.
The short version is that Japanese overwhelmingly marry other Japanese (704152 out of 740191 or 95.1% of marriages in 2004). Of those who don't marry Japanese, more are Japanese men marrying non-Japanese women (27881 or 3.7% of men) versus the other way around (8158 or 1.1% of women). Plus, the Japanese men who marry foreigners marry mostly Chinese, Korean, Filipino, or Thai women. Very few (less than 1%) are to British or American women.
Anyway, so it's a bit misleading of you to say that Japanese men prefer caucasian women when 96.3 percent of Japanese men who married last year married Japanese women and 99% of those who didn't married other asian women.
Companies don't charge what they want for products. They set the price in order to make a profit, generally the highest profit possible. Depending on the market forces (consumer demand and desires, competition), they may decide to create a lower cost product or higher quality product based on what the market will pay for and what will make them the most money. That is NOT greed, because if they don't do it, the competitors will. As long as competition is allowed or possible, that will happen sooner or later.
Second, the CEO's responsibility is not to the employees, but to the investors and owners of the corporation. The CEO is hired by the board of directors, the representatives of the major shareholders in the company. His legal responsibility is to them and he can go to jail for being negligent if he mishandles the economic interests of the company. (Note, I am using "he", but obviously the CEO can be a woman. In fact, at my company the CEO is a black woman.). Anyway, the CEO cannot say, "let's pay all these employees lots of money as the company goes down in flames". CEO's who do things like that are seen being charged with mismanagement and going to jail. And it's not the employees who impress the district attorney to charge them with crimes, it's the investors who bought millions of dollars worth of stock in the company.
The translate function really needs more languages, and needs to be able to look up words from foriegn languages into your native language (e.g., Japanese to English).
With my other purchase, the guy shipped me the DVD that I asked for, but without its' DVD case! He never mentioned this, after I told him about this, he said that throws out the cases that his DVDs come in.
That's a euphamism for "I stole some guy's 400 DVD album".
I haven't seen the numbers, so I don't know. Maybe a giant ring around the earth actually would be a better solution to prevent ill effects from global warming. Maybe you'd be foolish not to consider it.
That happens all the time though. For example, routers or media boxes that use Linux as an operating system. They make modifications to the kernel, but they are often things that are product-specific which have no use. So if you ask for the source code, they will usually give it to you without a fuss, but it doesn't do you any good for anything except their piece of hardware.
Similarly, Apple has incorporated GPL software into its OS X. No, the programs may not be linked in with proprietary code, but their functionality is available and they extend the usefulness of a proprietary product. GPL intentionally allows for this as long as improvements are released back to the community.
No way it would be a 1:1 ratio. It would be at best 1:10, more likely closer to 1:100 (i.e., upload 100M to download 1M). The old BBS's had similar systems, though often they would let you download 4X or 5X what you uploaded.
Niggardly is an adverb, not an adjective.
1. Observe demand for a product ...
2. Create product that meets that demand
3.
4. Profit
...get the geeks to use it. Then everyone else will use what the geeks are using.

How much was that Athlon 64 FX again?
I don't know, but according to PriceGrabber.com, the Pentium M 770 is $625.
oooh... I like your sig.
I hated that about it. You can't make a file using just a text editor unless you want to break your fingers on the shift, < and > keys.

BDU = Battle Dress Uniform
How does a post that doesn't say anything at all definiative get modded "Informative"?
Sheesh, get off your soap box.

If you can read English, I bet you can figure it out in about 10 minutes.

Ironic that CommunistTroll gets modded "Insightful" and you get modded "Funny".
Slashdot sucks. *sigh*
We might have been doing it wrong. I want to make sure I don't get her pregnant!
Don't worry, you're probably sterile.
He says the exact same thing as another poster, and 1 minute later.
Just buy a cheap Windows machine and a KVM. Seriously.
It would be quite ironic if we made a giant sun shade to thwart global warming and instead caused a new ice age.
