    Because RMS already condemned it. And everything condemned by RMS has been proved to actually do the predicted damage. So chrome OS will probably live and thrive, and lure a lot of gullible users to trust their info and data in the cloud, and come back to bite them.

    The last half is non-sense. If some carbon energy source is renewable, there is no long-term carbon dioxide effect because carbon is in the renewing cycle.

    Can you stop the free flow of capital? If you are planning to build a centralized socialist economy, maybe. But what the U.S. actually needs is better education and less bureaucracy so it (at least some of the states) can compete in the world market. Stop whining for the lost jobs like a spoiled child.

    Nazi war machine was so poorly organized that it lost to USSR in spite of the fact that Germany had much more industrial potential. I'd say that's pretty neutral evil. (since it's still organized better than some shame of a war effort like Italy had made.

    she's running very unrealistic maths. For one thing, why do we need to stop emitting CO2 by some arbitrary time point? Biomass may not be enough, but what if we just plant them and burn our coal so CO2 equilibrium can be dragged back to a more comfortable level?

    I would imagine the most benefit would come from the ability to modify sold hardware. For example, it is a known issue that some Nissan cars accelerate when you press the brake. Nissan claims it's a design problem of the mat, but many suspect it's auto transmission problem. If the code is open, someone would definitely release a fix and I can put that into my auto transmission computer. If I cannot do that, I can have that done at some mechanic's. Then I will be liable for the modification.
