France has a very good system for this, apparently.
My personal experience with NHS Direct was actually (all things considered) pretty damn good. Mind you I am a strong proponent of the NHS, despite its neglect over the past decade, Its still a valid and potent solution, and one which I am grateful for! And have been a lot throughout my life!
Driving a motorbike, having a son, and an accident prone girlfriend makes you very happy that a relatively small proportion of your income goes to those fellas!
In other words the "You smelt it you dealt it" argument...
Good post.
I think due to the (admittedly decreasing) social stigmata associated with homosexuality there is a societal benefit in a denial.
This is particularly the case in certain religiously fundamentalist nations, though this is not entirely the case.
There is a certain case for heterosexual arousal in response to homosexual activities as a survival response; in the words of Team America:
"Sometimes dicks fuck assholes too".
In other words, the arousal response can be explained in the sense of using sex as a dominance device as seen with lower mammals such as dogs. Aligning yourself with a dominant alpha can provide benefits.
If it ties up with google maps and earth, then I can only assume that given where I live my avatar will be really, really blurry and be wearing flares.
For the uninitiated, (i.e. non-security chaps), fundimentally when it boils down to it, its irrelevant how good the encryption mechanism if someone is sitting over your shoulder reading the information.
I really wish the DRM happy crowd would understand that if it gets to be decrypted by a bit of kit that can be in "hostile" hands it is not going to be "secure" for more than 2 months (see DeCSS, Fairplay, Microsofts thingy, BlueRay, um.... Wait... all DRM thus far has been cracked in less than 2 months.).
Frankly its absurd. You employ a team of 50 programmers to make the next greatest hack proof DRM schema, however you are (if you make anything worth viewing/listening to/playing) up against at least 1,000 times that in terms of people that are interested in breaking it.
The worst thing is: The crackers only need to find one way to break it.
Hey ho. The reality of the situation is that DRM is costing the media conglomerates more to implement than the potential losses.
Its like putting a $200 lock on a $20 bike.
If I like I buy. If I can I take. If had taken, it doesn't mean I would have bought it.
Not just the UK...

One might hope that it is pretty close to the "auto euthanise" button.....
Would say quite honestly that its her job to make sure that the sprogs are doing their schoolwork.

Wow and yet despite this, more and more people are switching to Linux and OS X :-)

Yeah, there are tags called slownewsday, fud, notfud and itsatrap. Not to mention the fact that, though it may be new to the editors, its not news.
well, I mod this 0 (meh)
Meh, but it has a tilde in the URl... can't be up to much.... Surely if it was a valid piece of research it would end in ".tv" at least..
You missed another important pointless buzzword:
Synergy
No word should have more than two "x"s in it. And that includes a famous copier manufacturer.
Not that this article made the blindest bit of sense to me. This used to be a tech journal.
Proposed new tagline for slashdot:
"News for nerds, news for people that live in their parents' basement and pretend to be elves."
As are most of the major creation myths... In R.E. (Religious Education). At least it was when I went to school.

Failing that there was always the salt mines, or camp Xray... Or whatever the next one will be.
Excellent advice, but in most prisons you can get all the medication you will ever care for.
