Synopsis: A band of gay space gnomes, aboard the U.S.S. Fellow Ship (get it, fellow, ship, heh heh) team up with the Lucasfilm Muppets(tm) to kill the one guy on the bridge of the Enterprise which nobody knows (and hence won't miss when he dies).
People jump to the conclusion that Payola is a bad thing. Why? You say it doesn't allow small artists airtime. So what. If they're good, they can get a record contract and get on the air too. Music and Radio are businesses, not god-given rights. The music industry spends a lot of money finding (or making) what people want. Radio stations are businesses also. If they collect money from record companies - who have invested a lot of time and money in their artists - to give them airtime, what's the big deal?
If you don't like the crap they're trying to sell, listen to a different station, go buy music you do like, whatever.
Puhleeez. Desktop Real Estate is a phrase they use in PC Magazine for Pete's Sake! Am I the only one who, when seeing this phrase, immediately assumes that the author is a fucktard?
I say we immediately begin abusing anyone who uses this phrase.
The good thing about building your own is that you don't have to buy each and every component brand new all at once. You can recycle much of it... nic, video card, harddrive(s), floppy drive(s), cdrom(s), cdburner, etc. etc. etc. Unless you're totally starting from scratch, which is silly. Whenever I rebuild my computer, I usually just get new mb/cpu/ram, the rest from my current computer... except maybe a new case, if need be.
Especially those of us with relatives who lost their lives saving Europe. Yeah.
Or, super-duper good hotel rates, Metro passes, Tube passes, etc. Or, maybe the Brits can get off their high horses and act POLITELY towards Americans. Considering how we saved them, it's not that much to ask.
Focusing all this energy on creating replacements for the apps that keep us tied to Windows?
For me to run Linux on my main PC at work, I need specific things: A Groupwise client, a Novell client, a pcAnywhere type thing to check on remote systems which cannot be replaced by Linux because of the apps that must run on them... ? These things would go a lot further than a doorprize, though free stuff is always good.
Besides the obvious 'don't run random executables', keep in mind that by default, Windows has 'Hide File Extensions Of Known File Types' enabled. So, Joe End User thinks he's opening BritneySpearsNaked.jpg, when he's really running BritneySpearsNaked.jpg.exe. Never mind the fact that Joe End User doesn't realize that this 'jpg' doesn't have the normal.jpg icon.
I believe this is one of the worse Windows offenses, yet gets zero press.
Plus... rather than delete all attachments in a panic, it's fairly easy to save to disk, then scan with your favorite AV software prior to opening/running/etc.
This would be cool. Get a really tiny skillet, remove your heat-sink/fan whatever cooling device, put the skillet on the cpu, put a drop of pancake batter in the skillet, and cook yourself a genuine CPU pancake.
Make about 1000 of these, and you'll have a nice breakfast.
Besides getting your base install done, and everything like printing, fonts, etc., working nicely, it's a royal pain installing new apps that require X,Y,Z versions of libs X,Y,Z, which require versions A,B,C of libs Q,R,S, which require versions H,I,J of libs D,E,F... ad infinitum, which, when you install them, happen to break other things. A nice, standard lib control system would make things a lot better, IMHO.
My 2 yr old child enjoys hitting the reset button, removing and smudging up cds. I've seen the Antec 1040B (I think), with locking front, which encloses the power/reset and cdroms. Does anyone have any other recommendations?
3 countem 3 boners in one!

A splendid time is guaranteed for all!
The Disney Channel (aka ABC) aired a 1 hour special about the magic of Lilo and Stitch last Friday.....
If you still doubt that big business owns the airwaves, you're silly!
It is easy. I never listen to the radio, ever. Yet I learn about all sorts of music through magazines, various web sites, p2p, etc.

Thank you for your attention to this matter
This one is nice too.

Hey, I'm not saying they had a hard time, they could just be a little thankful, and less hoity-toity to Americans.
Thanks for your contribution, BTW.

Without Tunguska, what would we compare these things to? Krakatoa?
Thanks for the tip, I found it, will give it a whirl. Now, Groupwise, Novell, and about a dozen specialized medical apps, and I'll be good to go!

Writing by a STEGOSAURUS . Hard to read, because they weren't very nimble.

Why yes, I am an idiot. Thanks for asking.
They say it's BAD, real BAD to look directly at an eclipse. Personally, I think it's an old wives' tale.

Now That Would Be Cool.
That would be Sears(tm)'s release.
Would probably be better
I discovered a lot of stuff that I wouldn't have otherwise, and went out and bought the cds. Isn't that what they try to do with radio?

Hey, they're going to die anyway. They may as well be put to good use.
Oh, okay. You obviously aren't familiar with the reasoning ability of 2 year olds.
