  1. I don't think we generally need separate laws for transactions on the internet. The same sort of problem occurs in paper contracts.

I wonder if there's a helpful step where a third party translates contracts (government or otherwise) into normal-people language or classify the contract with iconography. Most of the click-through agreements are impractical to actually read; the benefit from the service or product is less than the effort to read the agreement. So the average consumer has to either (A) Hope it's not bad or (B) Not agree to anything ever.

What they did with Trump is so far removed from lawful investigations that with no immediate indictment, it is clear it was a travesty of justice.

The Mueller investigation was signed off on by deputy AG Rod Rosenstein, who is a Trump appointee. Mueller had almost nothing to say publicly during the whole investigation. Mueller didn't indict the president. Mueller didn't even interview Trump in person. What exactly are you asserting is unlawful?

There's probably more of a market at the low cost tickets. A crappy regional team, whose revenue comes mostly from concessions anyway, could sell tickets that were good until the home team won. Maybe if they just really like beer and hot dogs, spectators could root against the home team if they wanted.

  22. The economy is running on the afterburners of deficit spending. If the economy is running the best ever, shouldn't we be running a surplus or at least a shrinking deficit? Borrowing money to stimulate the economy certainly "works" but at the expense of greater interest payments. That's why responsible governments shrink the deficit in good times.

In FY 2018 the federal deficit was 3.9 percent of GDP.

This year, FY 2019, the federal government in its latest budget has estimated that the deficit will be 4.7 percent of GDP.

  23. You're right. It's not the best. I don't think that's exactly what the rating means. I guess it means "of people who are interested in this sort of movie, what percent of them liked this movie?" So films that are unambiguously of a particular genre will score higher with audiences, because we have already filtered for people who like (in this case) the Marvel recipe.

Similarly, ratings on boardgamegeek.com for expansions to games are generally higher than the ratings for base games, because of the selection bias.
