We ran into the same thing making a cheezy Beowulf cluster (4-node, 486-50s.. don't ask). We were having really strange network issues, and then we started pinging each machine to make sure it was still alive.

There were two IPs we could ping, and ping would say "received two replies". Turns out they each had different IP addresses, but the same MAC address. Using ipconfig and changing the MAC on one of them fixed it right up.

I was on the design team for a Quake2 Goldeneye mod, but the team folded and we all went our separate ways. I had the code cranked out for all the weapons and game play styles, i was just waiting on the rest of the team for models and maps.

i really miss that mod, it was an awesome project to be working on.

Macrovision fluctuates the intensity of the signals in your video, and since a VCR has automagic gain control (AGC), the picture gets really bright and then really dark and it's hard to watch.

As a matter of fact, I've had to explain it to my ex-g/f's sister a few times. Conversation typically went like this:

Her: "WE HAVE TO TAKE THIS DVD BACK IT IS BROKEN!"
Me: "Is the PS2 plugged straight into the TV?"
Her: "Yeah! Through the VCR, straight into the TV!"
Me: "Plug it into the back of the TV."
Her: "NO that's useless it plays games fine through the VCR."
    Me: "Just try it."

She runs downstairs and I don't hear from her for a while. ;D
