The point is, a game console is dependant on games. Games are dependant on developers. Developers are influenced by culture.
Phones, however, are not so much. If it can talk, text, and email, its good to go. The iPhone is flashy, and possibly "better" than the other smartphones they've got selling over there.
I've always been a little wishy washy when it comes to voting, I mean both Liberals and Conservatives end up making good points, and I always end up voting for whoever sounds like less of a douche at the debates, despite if their policy actually makes sense or not.
However, this is something that concerns me a bit more. Usually everything breaks down into what will cost us the most tax dollars versus the benefit it brings us. I go along and pay my taxes no matter how much they demand (which is quite ludicrous right now actually, we're taxed something like 40% after GST, PST, Income and other taxes, and don't have half the services of some european countries).
But this is another issue altogether. This could effect the way I do things, punishable by the law. So - yeah, I want to see who supports what in this whole debacle.
The reason it would have been modded down if it were by an American is that the American Government is over there mucking about in other people's Countries before getting its house in order, making the statement completely hypocritical.
Canadians on the other hand, do very little besides peacekeeping, and combing the hills of Afghanistan.

I also find that a bit odd. I'm wondering what effects this could have with our Ties in the US. I mean the states secretly want to assimilate us. On occaison a president will ask us to do something, and we'll oblige (Afghanistan) and other times we won't (Iraq).

You are a little wrong, he's judging a fantasy game based on it's realism, which sounds almost as ridiculous, but if you think about it, he has a point. Specifically with the dual wielding concept, if the REAL world has shown that it was not a really viable tactic, why should it be so effective in a video game, which bases alot of it's ground on real world items, such a plate armor, swords, and castles?
I don't see where Eve being a Hybrid is coming in.
Eve IS exactly what the parent described, a stats-based or skill-based MMO.
It doesn't change anything though, You get people who put their stats and skills into things that make them live a ridiculously long time (Tank), you get people who put their stats and skill into dealing damage (DPS), and you get people who put their stats and skills into transfering shield and hull repairs (Healers).
Eve does have the most range of 'classes' though, since its a skill based system it allows you to have hybrid like classes. There are also certain 'classes' that people go that aren't really available in other game, like some people go specifically for debuffing, to reduce enemies speeds, targetting abilities, and chance to escape.

But to answer your question more effectively, when you make a movie you target an audience. A hobbyist would probably aim his audience towards the locality upon which the film is made. (Meaning, if he's in Uruguay, he's going to make a film for Uruguayians).

The media is there to find the BOLDEST statement you can make. Then when it's wrong they work their way backwards until the news is no longer interesting.
