How come recording time on camcorders suck? I'm sick of 30 minute tapes or 1 hour tapes. There should be some way to throw in a 30 gig laptop hard drive into these camcorders and record directly to that, or something. (Is there anything like that already?)
14.1" IBM LCD on my Thinkpad T22 running 1400x1050. Simply beautiful, I couldn't go back to my 600E with the 1024x768 on a 13.3". 1280x1024 would be nice, but I just love this resolution.
Only problem is getting nice wallpaper for my desktop:) .
Cool, but I value tactile feedback. The lack of feeling of me actually *pushing* a button will just feel weird. I wonder if it's something you'd get over, though.
This is just another step towards the computer domination of the world. Is anyone else reminded of Terminator 2, in which whenever they shot the bad guy, he'd just "heal" himself? IBM will be responsible for the Next World Order!
Islam *does* promote monogamy. Go read up about why Islam gives concessions to polygamy, and why it's not promoted. Just because something is allowed, it doesn't mean something is preferred.
My oh-so-beautiful T22's LCD is at a wonderful 1400x1050, 14.1". The biggest problem is getting nice wallpaper for it, but it's damn crisp. Beautiful screen. So not all LCDs are limited to a horrid 1024x768 or so.
The problem with these building blocks is that they're not pretty. I can design something out of Lego bricks that ends up being aesthetically pleasing when i'm done. To get these things to be nice looking, you have to blur your eyes. Most of you geeks prolly don't give a damn about aestetics (look at your own computers, 90% of you) but they matter.
Anyway, a lot of things have tried to tackle the king of the heap, but I don't think Lego bricks will be coming down anytime soon.
*YOU* remember parrot from the april fools joke? A Slashdot editor? I always thought/. editors had the memory of a drunken monkey smoking three dollar crack, with all the duplicate articles I see around here.
I'm responding to this, and throwing away a point I already moderated. (Up, in case you were wondering.)
I don't find it ironic that no one else has replied to your post. As usual, if the general SlashDot fan club doesn't like a post, they'll skip over it or post AC.
Hey, whatever. I suppose I fall into the "general/. fan club" due to my relatively low UID, and the fact that I've loaded Slashdot crazy numbers of times in my 3 or whatever years here.
But, I agreed with the post. Yea, the Slashdot crew is a bunch of screw-ups who I wouldn't ever hire for any sort of journalism. But I hold Slashdot to a lower standard than say, cnn.com or nytimes.com due to their obvious stupidity, and the fact they never pretended to be real journalists. If they tried to pass this lame crap off as *real* journalism, I wouldn't come.
I use Slashdot as just a form of amusement. To be serious here is pointless. Nowadays I cruise around at +3 (Except when I'm especially bored, or moderating), but I used to read/. at -1 (and still do to catch up on how trolls (now spammers) have evolved) and I enjoyed this site thoroughly.
I'm still here because I'm still vaguely amused. That and the fact that I don't know of a better site. (Kuro5hin just seems too "high & mighty" for my tastes. Plus, Signal+11 is there.)
But whatever. Slashdot is going to hell, but I'll jump ship when there's someplace better.
(3) Slashcode 2.2's been eating posts! Or has it? It's been kinda screwy, with the database crash of yesterday, and all these other broken features (notably, the [domain] links.)
But anyway, my post didn't automatically drop to a -1, which takes steam away from the first theory.
Although the Xbox isn't featured on this Handy Dandy Chart, I'm sure it doesn't compare next to our beloved geek pasttime.
The Raspberry seems like it can do a helluva lot more than just play MP3s.. Now *THAT*s the ultimate geek toy.
completive? or competitive?
how about slashdot hires the grammar nazi?

Well, *BSD is dying...
Hell, I can't even play it in Win2000 with Windows Media Player 6.4.
That kind of thinking is sooooo 20th century!
Welcome to the next millennium.
Prediction lists (and their addendums)...
"Use the mirrors!"
"Make sure you patch, don't waste bandwith!"
"Damn, there goes my uptime"
"Heh, I'm STILL running Kernel 1.2.1!"
"Does anyone NEED to use the latest kernel? What does it add?"
"Use the latest kernel! Testing is vital!"
"2.4.13? I thought Linux was at 7.2?!"
If I've forgot any, post to this thread. Hell, if you're any of the above postings, post to this thread....
Toyota Odyssey, eh? It would have been better if it was Honda...

You need a *scientific* calculator to calculate the tip? Jeez. ".15*amount" is sufficient, no?

And get some glare while you're at it. This hack is the nicest I've seen so far.

I'm sure they needed a lil' slashdotting to test their server too, right? Have some compassion!

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I haven't done anything legal with my CD-RW.
Whoops. Forgot the obvious.
