we weren't built to live the way we are

The truth is, we weren't "built" to live beyond the age needed to produce successful offspring. It is just wrong to assume that all the diseases adults get, including depression, could be cured by operating our bodies the way they were "designed." After our early twenties, our bodies are running in "garbage in, garbage out" mode because we weren't "designed" to live past those ages.

In my years with the Lutheran (ELCA) church, the old books were mostly ignored. All of the "evil hateful god" stuff was left out of all teachings. I assume this was because no independantly minded, morally concious person could honestly say "I'm a christian" after realizing that entials more than just the hippy, get-along new testement stuff.

Wow... you wrote all those words without even attempting to support the idea that "the Iraq war protects the freedoms of Americans." You rambled about US citizens have a lot of freedom. You asserted that military action, in general, was needed to make it this way. You used words like "overall." But the only military action anyone mentioned was the one in Iraq, about which you said absolutely nothing. Thanks for playing the internet: insert coins to continue.

Hm, after consulting a dictionary, it looks like average is sometimes used to mean median. But most books define it as mean.

Of course, even if it does mean "mean," that doesn't mean half of the people would be worse. there could be multiple people that are the mean. In this case, less than half would be below. But now I'm being really pedantic.

It seems like your area is different than the rest of the US. In the midwest, the only times I encounter mexican immigrants (legal or not) are in food service or other low-skill occupations. I've been to socal. There are a lot more mexican immigrants and so there is more spread in terms of job skill level. But the average still tended toward the low end of the skill spectrum. You obviously have more experience with socal than I do, though.

There is no consensus on what IQ scores measure? That's wrong. It is clear that IQ correlates strongly with financial and social success (social being likelyhood of getting divorced, etc.). It may be hard to define "intelligence," but IQ is certainly a meaningful measurement of the likelihood of success.
