    This is why many email clients have a priority field. Rarely used on the whole, yet quite worthwhile.

    The problem with that is that it's the sender that determines that priority, and the sender's and recipient's interpretation of that priority may differ greatly.
    No net gain...you still have to read it to adjudge whether it is or isn't.

    Same here. I don't think linux will really take off til you can count the number of distros on one hand. One point not mentioned is all of the distros dilute the talent pool too much, too.

    Which is also why nobody adopted this program. Lots of great features, but they didn't fit together in a useful way. The developers threw in every feature they could acquire or develop -- but they never thought through the product as a whole.

    OS X came from NeXTSTEP which Jobs built completely from scratch without any MacOS code.

    Yes, OS X is derived from NeXTSTEP. It is also derived from the older (classic) MacOS. To say that it contains no MacOS code shows that you're really not aware of the history. There is an entire very heavily used API (carbon) that utilizes classic MacOS code.


    And you're not aware of syntax. It's NeXTstep which was built without any MacOS code, not OS X.

    1) Not all Latin Americans speak Spanish. Some speak Portuguese.

    Ahh, I thought only Brazilians did in Central/South America.

    2) In order to get a real job here, you have to speak a second language, and English is the obvious choice. Yes, unlike some people in other countries, we actually care to learn a foreign language.

    Write that one in the "Yes" column.

    If it detects a pirated version of Windows, disable the TCP/IP stack. From then on they don't have to worry about whether or not to supply security updates or not. Plus, they won't be virus/trojan vectors, and they users' data is still there.
