  1. Re:Well as an Apple stockholder on Should Apple Open Source the iPhone? · · Score: 5, Insightful

I prefer Apple's performance over Linux. I have been using Linux for more than 10 years, and I still think it's not nearly ready for the desktop. Many commercial systems or programs still outperform their open source compatitors by far. Give me a phone that works, not one that I have to tinker with for a long time to get something simple working.

I guess the MAFIAA lobby is very strong. Obviously politicians have no idea of the real world and are told what to say by their staff.

Whatever he may be, we know how the story ends, don't we:

Mammon slept. And the beast reborn spread over the earth and its numbers grew legion. And they proclaimed the times and sacrificed crops unto the fire, with the cunning of foxes. And they built a new world in their own image as promised by the sacred words, and spoke of the beast with their children. Mammon awoke, and lo! it was naught but a follower.

So why not dump a whole lot of this newfangled triple helix stuff in the environment and wait a few billion years? Let's see who's the winner then! Will it be DNA or PNA? SMS your prediction to 999-HELIX and win a spaceship!

How lang has he been Prince of Darkness? I bet not since 1979!

Ha, so I'm not the only one who noticed. I got strange looks when I said that my iBook had a much better screen than my MBP, but luckily there are more people who think Apple's old laptops had better screens than the new ones.

I agree. My MacBook Pro has a really crappy display for such an expensive laptop IMO. From whichever angle I look at it, I never see the whole screen in the same brightness.

Here in NL we have a song about Piet Hein. He brought us the Spanish silver fleet when Holland ruled the waves and was at war with the Spaniards in the 17th century. He was a national hero back then, but in fact he was just a pirate. He stole all the silver the Spaniards had stolen from the natives in South America.
