  1. There will be no success on pressuring the carriers. They will only act under law or if it serves their own purposes. The article states that it does not.

Why not let the consumer install their own operating system so the own can decide how to utilize the product they own.

I hate the idea of having to ask permission in order to use my property the way that I want. Therefore, I hate smart phones.

If you want Skype, then you probably don't want what Linux provides.

  3. How can you "out" a porn star? And who ever thought showing your face in public was anonymous.

There are some strange ideas about what it means to be in public. And who ever said that making a movie for public consumption was a private affair?

There are some real things happening where your privacy is being violated. Most of these are occurring in the areas that are firmly recognized as being private by law. Such as violations by others into your own property. I will would worry more about that.

While I wish no harm upon Bill Gates - in spite of being vehemently anti-Microsoft myself

I am with you on this. I disliked many business choices made by Microsoft while being directed by Gates. I think Microsoft strong-armed the distributors into anti-competitive behaviour. But he is man now... I mean he gives a lot to charity as he promised he would. I doubted he would at the time, but now he has proved he is a good person.

I am guessing the article is somewhat symbolic and image and name of Bill Gates is well known. Propaganda is about images and emotion not truth.

  5. As a good citizen, I feel it is my duty to offer my home as asylum to International models everywhere.

  6. Well this is advertising for a trailer for a video game you may not know about. I mean it says it right there: "most spectacular moments in the trailer, such as..." And so the implication is that if you do not watch the trailer, you are someone who dislikes seeing spectacular things. That's not you.. .so watch the advertisement now.

  7. The data was already public! What are you whining about?

Exactly. This is the fault of the company for allowing a web crawler to collect 70,000 user profiles without shutting down the attacker. OK cupid... take responsibility and then fix your holes.

Google should just post the license plates of all their vehicles. Then we could check at any time to make sure that their brand is not being used by others. After all, the cars I've seen have "Google" written all over them, so it is not like they would be sharing private information. And it would give us the ability to know whether to just wave or throw eggs.

  12. Lying isn't illegal, so why mention that? I mean who even thinks lying is illegal?

  13. Why would anyone want a printer named "peachy" anyway?

  14. It's very strange that people still opt to pay for so much advertising. I am always amazed when I find a TV connected to cable and flip through the channels and channels of ads. Why isn't cable TV free already?

  15. Most people have the opposite problem. They know what they want, but don't know how to make it.

The problem described doesn't exist. I think everyone knows something they want, but most of us also know that we don't know how to make it. I think the primary problem with beginners is knowing the limits of the competence with the tools available. I agree with the post on this: "you will write LOTS... not just one!" Because those who write just one are not programmers and probably made something nobody wants anyways.

Exactly. It all depends on when the manufacturer releases a fully self-driving car. It has little to do with customers or their desire for it.

Any number with a lot of zeros is going to divide by 2 a lot. Like "X0000000000000", because all those zeros will hold the remainder of the divisions of X. 32 is easily seen to be a power of 2. So all those divisions by 2 divide evenly into such a number. One less than the even division means the remainder will be one less than that division. So "31". I could not do it so fast the first time. But if you knew this or seen it before, all such questions would be rather easy. The same is true for IQ questions. The first time you see them is the only time I think they have meaning.
