Time to go out and arrest all those people who modify their cars with after market equipment.. and the makers of the after market equipment.. and the publications that advertise and showcase that after market equipment. I'm sorry, but once the hardware is purchased it should not matter if I play games on it, install linux or turn it into a f**king planter. If I want to see the hardware after modifying it then that should be my right, it is my property why can't I? Because it circumvents some DRM??? If I tweak a car until it can do 180mph and then sell it is that illegal? It can break the speed limit... oh wait.. most cars can..hmm WTF? We can manufacture cars capable of breaking the law but can't modify a game console that may or maynot then be used to break the law? I'm sorry, if you need restrictive technology (DRM) just to make your business model profitable then you need to change your business model. I don't think we need laws to prop up that business model either.

I used to build my own PCs way back, but I really got tired of it all and just wanted to do my work and use the computer.

But when you want to upgrade your iMac, you have to pay for a new screen to replace the perfectly good one with the old computer.

As I said, I pass the old machine down when I get a new one and the new one comes with a nice new screen

And if you want multiple machines on a KVM, you're screwed.

I don't need multiple machines so I'm fine. I do run Parallels when I need Windows for testing my sites out in the different flavors of IE.

Previously I had run 7 PCs under my desk with a KVM and since I got rid of them and keep Windows or Linux in a Parallels image I'm much happier.

For me, the Mini is underpowered, the PowerMac is over priced, and I will not buy a computer with an integrated screen. The day they release something comparable to an iMac but without an integrated screen and a price that reflects the missing screen is the day I switch to mac.

I agree about the Mac Mini, somewhat about the Mac Pro and for your sake I hope they do eventually come out with something for you.

    still 100% overpriced.

Sure, Mac OSX is less, but you are paying for that with the outrageously over-priced hardware.

I paid $1299 for my 24" iMac (2007) and I think it is worth every penny. It is a rock solid machine with an awesome OS on top of that. I do web development on it, surf the web ( /.), edit movies in Final Cut Express, watch TV on it (eyeTV), watch movies on it (DVD, HULU, iTunes) with the remote and I've never had one issue with it since I bought it two years ago.

When I'm ready to move up to a newer one, I'll be handing mine down to my wife. She'll be handing down her 20" iMac (2005) to our son and he can hand down his old CRT iMac (2001) to his little sister. Just like how my wife handed down her iBook (2001) to her parents so they could use it when they travel.

Overpriced? No I don't think so.

My wife and I were driving there last fall and went the wrong way and spent five minutes very tensely trying to find the right way out of there.

Ever see a person pick up a cigarette butt of the ground and smell it, then try to light it?

I'd love to live in Baltimore if more of it was like the little area that makes up the Inner Harbor and some of the other rehabbed areas. But the schools are dismal and getting worse. My wife is a middle school teacher who has always taught at Title 1 schools and even she didn't want to go to Baltimore to work.

So yes this "return to nature" plan could be a good thing. Maybe it will be good to get rid of those areas that have no residents and just give criminals a place to operate. It could definitely help the Baltimore city government, not having to patrol/respond to those areas would make their jobs easier. Less money spent on clearing drug dealers out of abandoned building, re-boarding up abandoned buildings..Then they can focus better on the remaining smaller leaner city and it's residents.
