all you geeks out there have read (i imagine) a sufficient amount of sci-fi, pol-sci and philosophy to understand the basic concepts. people need a thing to believe in. without these beliefs, people are scared, confused and depressed. those are the kind of people that the [fill in the blank] leader want. the others are just there to second guess their decisions and cause general trouble.
i don't think i've ever met one person who hasn't overstepped their 'personal power' boundaries in their life. doesn't matter if it's jimmy fatboy stealing a doughnut, bush lying to your face or hitler. everyone has to deal with their own power demons and some fare better than others.
until we have some sort of universally accepted faith, idea or fact, the human race will continue to blow eachother up and throw airplanes at buildings. deal with it. don't like america? try another country. the people that roll over and let the [fill in the blank] leader do the talking are obviously happy or lazy. move somewhere else or deal with it. give up personal comforts for three minutes for your morals.
otherwise, get back in the fishbucket and flop around with the rest.
one thing that other people seem to forget is how much longer and longer the development cycle is getting on these consoles. sure, the ps3 might have the power of 200 ps2's, and it might take 10 years to develop, but then all the darn games are going to take longer than DNF to 'perfect'.
i mean, 3 years of development, 2 of marketing, pretty soon i'm going to have living my gaming vicariously through my children.
the real importance of this (besides all the realllly cool street samurai stuff) would be the ability to overcome debilitating diseases and damage from accidents.
this may be the perfect way to interface with nanomachines, send a certain message through the external device into the nerves and muscles for them to attack this section or help rebuild.
well, moving is a stupid idea. i like north carolina.
as for running a magnet over it, yeah, that's a quick fix, but it doesn't really solve the long term problem. soon enough they'll just embed it into the plastic itself, or put a microchip in it or some such nonsense. of course, they'll figure out someway around THOSE as well, but it doesn't fix the actual problem.
it seems there should be an option to say no to having the magnetic strip on a license. i always opt out of having my SSN listed on the card, and to be frank, if it's this easy to grab the data, i'd rather inconvenience the police officer by making him type it all in to his mobile.
sounds like they should just build their own damn secure network. considering this is a resource (not yet) 'owned' by one person, why the hell should they get priority?
be on the lookout for the new PBS special 'Beige : the color of the cosmos'. I heard they talk about how hawking and einstein were raised in beige rooms.
the only author i've ever seen that can blatantly steal the style of hunter s thompson and get away with it. drivel drivel drivel.
i mean, cluetrain was interesting until the whole communist mind control thing, and gonzo wasn't so bad except for the middle and start and end, but c'mon.
The point of making it look more like 'that other OS' is so a newbie user will feel more at home using it. i mean really, macos and win* aren't that 'different' as far as the actual desktop is used. the main difference is the menu systems used to load programs/config/etc.
people want linux to be more mainstream, guess what, it needs to act more like what people are used to. do we rip a hole in nintendo for featuring analog controllers just like sony did? it's about convenience. get over it.
95% of computer users would be just as productive with a typewriter and a subscription to [fill in the blank] pr0n magazines.
don't be knocking wordstar or typewriters when they get the job done usually just as well.
ev,

regardless of costs, there are a heck of a lot of talented programmers here in the US who would take work.

still, 25$ is quite a steal for a linux tutorial coming from natalie portman.
jesus, for 25$ i'll dress up like natalie portman while i remove the stinking hot creamy grits from your loin-shorts.
send me 20$, i'll teach you how to use nmap, wrappers and ipchains.
oh shut up you wank.
go to efnet:#xian and tell them of your pains. at least he had something interesting, although quite offtopic to say.
20$ says that somewhere in there, they forgot to carry the one.

this is being said about the company who had god knows how many rock stars in their commercials promoting the ease of creating mix cd's, etc?
jesus. walt's probably spinning in his cryogenic chamber while elvis is playing xtank on the mk ultra mainframe.

i'm so excited! could it be they're making a new PlayChoice 10? i mean, i'd pay 50 cents to play luigis mansion and crazy taxi for 45 seconds a pop!
it's about time taco lost his virginity, now maybe he'll have the balls to fire jkatz.
