I know a lot of comments here are going to be about their horrible customer service, unreliable network problems, etc. I know cause I've heard a lot of friends' (in St. Louis, where I live) horror stories. Maybe I'm the only customer that has been pleased with their services. Calling customer service has always been surprisingly pleasant and my issues resolved impressively quickly.
AT&T's U-verse just became available in my area (when I moved here cable was the only option for high-speed internet, DSL didn't reach this far) but I really do not want to deal with the pain of switching my TV, DVR, internet and phone over to a different company. I already give AT&T too much money each month for my cell phone.
Charter has done good by me (so far), they're a local company and I hope they come out of this stronger. Options and competition are a good thing for the kinds of services they offer.
It still amazes me that after all these years Eclipse does not have an *easy* way to change the text editor color scheme. There don't appear to be any good plugins that let you apply pre-defined color schemes. Eclipse is one of the most popular Java IDEs out there, used in many other products, when will they fix this problem?
Check out "atomic watches" (which is what the marketing people call them to get people's attention). They're really just watches that sync to a "radio station" (WWVB near Fort Collins, Colorado) to keep precision down to the second. I have a Casio one that gets charged via solar power, has an automatic backlight (turns on when you rotate your wrist) and syncs to WWVB every night. It works around 80% of the time if I leave it on my night stand and. Casio makes a lot of different models.. a lot of them are pretty gaudy but other manufacturers make some much nicer looking ones.
I actually listen to "internet radio" on my pocket PC PDA. It has 802.11b and bluetooth built-in and WOXY's streams are available in mp3 (as well as aac+ and windows media).
At one point I was listening to WOXY in my car. I connected to WOXY via the internet connection available from my cell provider and then hooked that into my PDA. It worked pretty well but took too much effort to set up each time.
Gaim is just trying to follow the look of the rest of the linux desktop experience.. antiquated and generally pretty ugly!
At least gaim isn't as fugly and bloaty looking as the default trillian install. The best, cleanest, most feature-capable IM client I've used is Adium for OS X (which I believe uses gaim's IM library). It gets out of my way, isn't all flashy and has all the things I want (on the fly spell checking, history in new windows, etc).
(No, this isn't one of those "DUDE! JUST USE OS X! LINUX SUX0RS", I'm just stating my opinion.)
You didn't say what exactly the problem was with the camera you had. If it was build quality, tape mechanism problems, dirt getting in the case, etc. You might consider checking out the JVC hard-drive based line of camcorders. I see it as the next natural progression in camcorders to get rid of the overly complicated tape loading mechanism. They're pricey but they're VERY cool.. look for the JVC Everio GZMC200.. 4 gig drive, 10x optical zoom, 2 megapixels. I want.:)
How does a sensor on the engine know what speed the vehicle is going? Do trucks in singapore only have one gear that's always engaged (no neutral or reverse)?:)
Well, it looks like this guy's dream will come true and he'll get that anal probe he's been searching for. Too bad it'll be by some big, hairy dude instead of a big, hairy alien dude.
Me thinks you don't understand the expanse of data that lexis nexis has on people. They not only have your SSN but they probably have data on how many times you've bitched about people knowing your SSN.:) I sometimes think that Lexis Nexis is the Matrix, it just hasn't become fully sentient.
Have you ever been to downtown Dayton? It's not exactly a hot bed of internet users. There's very little residential and most of the businesses are most likely not of the internet-based variety. I think a different city would have benefited more.
Although there *is* Mendelsons. Where old stuff from the Wright Patt air force base goes to die.. a huge warehouse..

It tells of a way to get the kernel to report which processes are accessing the disk. There are better documents out there about this option but I don't have time to find a comprehensive document.
What would be really creepy is if software and computers had to read chunks of data off a network and store it in memory somewhere for you to use. I don't want my computer STORING data for me or READING stuff off my network connection! That's MY data, NOT my computer's!
Why can't it have a 56k modem built in? That would be a great little device to take with you on trips.. Land lines are generally available everywhere but wireless or LAN isn't. What might also work is if there was a way to plug a USB modem into the USB port (that's supposed to be for printer sharing) and have the unit use that modem..
Although it is nice that it can automagically act as a wireless bridge.

It's a joke, he was joking. Woz has always been a sarcastic joker.
BTW, he didn't "invent" the Mac.
And since the Mac Portable used a lead-acid battery you could use it to jump start the car! (ok, probably not)
Wow, I'd love to have that QSL card! :)

Next, they'll require employees to wear flair! 20 pieces "minimum"..
The beatings will continue until morale improves!
You could also look at it this way:
:)...
There should be more viewers for a tv show than listeners for a band..
The more sales of a product/service the lower the price can be (well, except for apple products)
That's my theory and I'm stickin with it!

I had a NCR 3125 in the 90's. It was tablet-shaped, it had crappy handwriting recognition, etc. http://www.pencomputing.com/TabletPC/pen_history_
Try again, M$!
Entire universities could be powered by frat boys as they piss on the lawn and walls after getting drunk.

I really hope/think you mean "minimum TCO".. you don't really want to maximize your Total Cost of Ownership.

Why are old ladies always poor? Do non-poor ladies never get robbed (they should, they have more money).
Or he could just go and get a dehumidifier... They're available from just about any home appliance or home improvement store.

Yes, but it's nice to hang out in your hotel room without your laptop tethered to the phone line.
