yes, if I fell flat on my face with my iPod in my shirt pocket, it might not fare to well. This as you mentioned, holds true for any player with a HDD rather than flash ram type media. You just have to weigh your needs. Is jogging *all* that you will use it for? Could you find use for it in your car with a cassette adapter? Could you find use for a portable 5/10 gig firewire drive? If you all you plan to use it for is music while jogging, then just get a cheap Rio or something. I do understand your concern about falling damage etc. Just try not to run into telephone poles while you jog:)
What is it that makes the iPod unsuitable for your running needs? It is no bigger than a pack of cigarettes, and will fit easily in your shorts/shirt pocket. Mine has yet to skip while I run with it. It is also easy to use the interface while staying on the move.
Just curious as to why you think it wont work for you.
why on earth would you need a 'broadband adapter' to plug into your fully function NIC that is included with the xbox? whoever wrote the linked article, did minimal research. He could have gotten more accurate information from IRC. Not sure where he got his.
the current uptime on my dual 500 g4 is:

dontcha just love this OS? btw, this machine runs aim, irc, email server and client, apache, photoshop, freeway, flash, itunes, games, etc on a daily basis. it isnt a server with no one at the keyboard.
Ok, you may now continue with threads that are on-topic
call your local phone company and tell them you want long distance slam protection. i did this with my phoneco, and they made it so that the only way my long distance can be changed is if i physically go to their office, and sign a piece of paper authorizing the change.
just taking a guess, but if Apple ever *does* port to x86 hardware, I bet the OS will cost more than $100. I would be willing to guess 300-400. Or, more likely in my opinion, they would sell Apple x86 macs, and try their hardest to figure out a way to make sure Mac OSX only ran on Apple PCs.
/. was *not* doing what maccentral was doing. maccentral had people *at* the keynote. If/. had people at the keynote, and they were updating the post from there, that would be one thing. As it is, all they did is send enough hits to the maccentral page that refreshing it went from taking a second or two, to being an exercise in frustration. When it started taking 2 minutes to refresh, I hopped over to/. and saw 'os9 is dead' was the top story, with 30 posts. It wouldn't surprise me if the submitter even ended up getting frustrated after submitting the story, and then trying to continue refreshing the page. If they are going to try to duplicate a website's content in the post, then why/. it as well? I'm just asking for discretion. Im just of the opinion that the post could have waited 15-20 more minutes for the rest of the keynote, and been posted as a complete story rather than a post with updates. It would have made it easier for the person refreshing the maccentral article to make this post, and it would have made it easier for the thousands of mac users that were already viewing the page when it was run over by the freight train that is the/. effect.

that's better. i dont want to see this kind of behavior from you again. Also, if you see you with that rowdy Huck Finn boy again it will be whippin time
A. Next time, wait till the keynote is over, dont just post the first thing that happens and then have to go back and keep updating the article. There is always lots of interesting stuff said in the keynotes, no point jumping the gun.
B. Thanks for getting the maccentral.com link hammered halfway through the keynote. I always enjoy having my keynote newspage refreshing session destroyed by a few million of the unwashed slashdot masses, half of whom are probably just trying to read the article to find trolling material. This ties back to A. in that if you had waited to post this till after the keynote, those of us that *really* care would have been able to finish getting updates about the keynote before the link was trampled.
Good luck with that. I'm sure all of us here at slashdot and in the real world wish you the best in your struggle to find color coded shit for your ps! And i really mean it!
Just as all of us here at slashdot wish you the best in your struggle to learn html.

valve treats mod developers so well because it keeps them from having to release a game for 3 or 4 years. why bother when a few user-made mods are more popular than the original game was to begin with? of course they treat you well. if they didnt, they might have to get off their ass and actually release another game! heaven forbid! /rant

I dont think The Neverending Story was as gripping of a war movie as Das Boot.

beige G3s are listed as supported machines. it may run like crap, but if you call Apple, they will support your right to run it at slow speeds. heh
