I don't know. I usually equate doing something ironic with negativity, as if Nintendo was being hypocritical. You forget (or ignore) that when 2 people get married, they become a family. There does not need to be kids. And the saying "Fun for all the family!" should also include people over the age of 18, otherwise it's just "Fun for the younger children!"

The average age of console gamers is over 18.

You could make a really good Guide Book like that. With pages dedicated to certain locations. You could then emboss on the cover some kind of comforting passage for whenever you get lost or into something you can't handle, "Don't Panic" comes to mind.

  5. Re:Until... on Hands On With Virtual Reality's Greatest Hope · · Score: 1

Or maybe, just maybe it's good old fasioned motion sickness? When you are in a bouncy car and you are focussed on something inside, your eyes are telling you that you are not bouncing, while your ears are telling you you are bouncing. This conflict if sensory inputs is what makes you sick. Why do you think it happens to children more than adults? They are often too small, or not interested in looking outside the car and are busy watching/playing with something inside it.

If I'm ever on a long bus journey, and am reading a book, I can feel it coming on, though simply looking outside for 5 minutes in ever 20-30 of reading cures it. This is also why you never get motion sickness when you sleep on a journey.

There's no need to make up new things when the problem is easily solved. Attaching an accelerometer to the headset and making the picture shift and 'bounce' as you move your head will fix this.

Someone using a simulator like this one here will likely get sick as when the 'car' banks to the left or right, the horizon in the screen doesn't adjust, so the eyes will see one reality, and the ears will feel another. Just another case of standard motion sickness, easily fixed with an accelerometer.

Sorry, but this is one of the few times I'd spend mod points on an AC, and I unfortunately don't have them.

This may be one of the paramount reasons, but I'd also like to add that every time I see Gabe on video talking about what's going on in the world of Valve, you can see that he's totally genuine in his devotion to getting games to gamers.

I honestly believe that getting Steam (and games in general) to work on linux is not just founded on getting their linux based console to work better, but also to provide gamers who use linux (and mac!) a better gaming experience by making the games run natively on their OS, and not having to rely on things like wine.

  7. Re:Destruction of evidence and private property. on Man Charged With HIPAA Violations For Video Taping Police · · Score: 1

How does it apply to this incident? Is it illegal disorderly conduct to record someone having a mental breakdown, and not stopping the recording despite a cop asking you, even politely, to stop? You could be the ultimate paramount douche and stand there laughing at the guy as you tape him, even saying things like "This'll get so many hits on Youtube!" and still not be illegal. As soon as you start thinking "Well surely there are some times it's illegal, and it wouldn't be a bad thing if the guy got a sound drubbing and have the camera taken from them" you join their side of using drummed up charges to harass the douche and then delete the _evidence_.

No, it's not nice, but there's no way you can class simply being a douche as disorderly conduct. If that was the case then dealing with the westboro baptist types would be much easier.
