Wip3out in a piranha played at highest speed setting from inside the cockpit was already pretty shit-yer-pants scary at times. I remember when I was playing it comfortably on tracks I knew very well you could see my brother sitting beside me flinching left to right as I turned corners.

I've been using Caffine (in it's Coffee form) to freshen my breath for years. I find it is really useful to increase the alertness level of staff around the office by breathing heavily in their face. It only takes a few goes and suddenly most of the workers here are on a much higher alertness level whenever I'm around. I would estimate it at least matches, if not exceeds Googles 50% increase.

  8. Re:I liked some of them on Why Are Video Game Movies So Awful? · · Score: 1

Don't forget Advent Children. Perhaps the problem is with Hollywood, and not the games.

What was good about Advent Children is that you knew the characters, the setting, but the story was newish. Oh and it had Sephiroth.

That is why I liked Advent Children. You knew Cloud, Tifa, Aeris etc. You knew their histories and motivations because you had spent 100's of hours with them and watched a great story unfold in the game. You knew that Cloud is never really going to get over the death of Aeris, and you know why he hated Sephiroth so much. They didn’t have to waste minutes in the movie explaining this to you.

In the list of games you mentioned, the main characters have no personality. They never have moments in the game where they show much emotion. The characters will never win an oscar. So when you are used to a heartless, emotionless playing piece that has special abilities which you use to beat down baddies or solve puzzles, it becomes hard/unbelievable that the character can take part in some soul searching or meaningful relationships etc.

The same thing should happen in the World of Warcraft movie. They don’t need to tell us any back story, who The Lich King was etc. If they include things that any one of the 11 million subscribers should know already, then the movie is not going to deliver what we really want, which is a mix of big battles, and good character interaction.

  17. You own the Car on Blizzard vs. Glider Battle Resumes Next Week · · Score: 1

You own the Car, but not the race track. In order to race on the track you are not allowed to use any device that drives for you.

If you are going to do that, they will not let you race with the other racers. But by all means take your modded car and race it in your own backyard, see how far that gets you.

The questionable thing here is that the race track owners are going after the manufacturer of the device, and not the racer at fault.

This is much like how Hollywood goes after ISPs instead of individual file sharers. Blizzard is enforcing its ToS, simple.

All male (or all female) is probably the best way to arrange these things, unless they are prepared to give up their privacy in such matters. It's okay to have segregated showers etc in a submarine these days because of the sheer size of them now. But if you are trying to budget for 3-4 man crew, then they have to be comfortable being naked in each other's presence.

It would be a useful second round to try it with mixed genders, but for now arranging it with just the one gender give a more defined control group. This way they can analyse the group for stresses that are not caused by shyness or reproductive ... urges. If round one succeeds and round two fails, then they learn that it's okay to send groups to mars, one gender at a time.

Men require more calories on a day to day basis, so an all female crew would require less resources than a male crew, but women are also much more social creatures, and being without contact to the wider world, would likely affect them more. (In the wild) It has been seen how males would often lead solitary lives (bull elephants, lions, bears) while a lone female (among mammals) is very rare. Women might find it a lot harder to leave everything behind them and go on a trip like this. And for this reason it would be interesting to see a similar project with women and compare the results

It would be interesting to hear from a woman on this subject. If one ever comes here...
