A HTTP response can not start until the whole request has finished. So sending a status code is impossible.
The same problem happens if you try to POST a file that is too large. The webserver knows this after the Content-Length header but cannot respond until after you send the whole file. The only thing the webserver can do is to close the connection.
A genuine Picasso can never become a counterfeit, even if I were to steal it from its owner and sell it to someone else. It's still a genuine Picasso.
If Mr Smith makes a copy of a Picasso and sells it as such then it's a genuine Smith. If I try to sell it as a real Picasso it became a counterfit Picasso.
Localized servers. So instead of putting Xbox Live in the hands of Microsoft, you want to bet that your ISP will throw up free Xbox servers for you to play NFL on? We're talking broadband here, you can realistically get a 100ms travel time from your Xbox to MS to another Xbox. Replace realistically with almost always.
I'm in europe. My ping to New York is 100 ms. From there it's at least an other 100 ms to Microsoft and back.
Would they localize the server, and put it in Amsterdam, I would have a round trip of 5 ms (5 hops, 50 km). Put it in London, and it's 15 ms (via Oslo. Strange fellows at Chello).
By the way, broadband doesn't mean low latency. My cable connection is great. But most cable conections I know have a latency of 30 ms to the first hop. ISDN is better at that.
For a project at my university I had to write a program for a Origin 2000. Trying to get the best performance, I read a lot about the architecture in developers docs.
I wondered if the machine would copy pages of memory to the right node. The docs only talked about 'Copy on write' mechanisms, but does it also do 'Copy on read'? Do all NUMA machines do that?
I asumed it did and the results were great. It took 3 minutes to process a few GB of data, scaling almost perfect over 64 CPUs.
And also shows how silly it is to have what is basically a civil job being done by the Army.
No, it shows how silly it is to let the army do something else than protecting the citizens, like fighting in Iraq.
Poverty in America is entirely different than poverty in China. I mean in China there are people literally living in caves.
Poverty in Scandinavia is entirely different than poverty in America. I mean in America there are people literally living in tents.
Even if you would run only one process, you can still use thee extra usable RAM for the disk cache.

what is the 'the evil "param = []" default value pitfall'?
Jeah, right. But some images are made up of 16 bit channels.
'Dynamic bandwidth utilization?'
Isn't that what QoS is for?
Yes, but was it at UTwente? SURFNet works just fine without Twente.
I think that there will always be niche players like beos and things like real-time operating systems. That's where inovation will come from.

'Lol' is actualy the dutch word for 'fun'.
Descent should be played with a mouse anyway. The microsoft mice are OK, but I like logitech mice better.

If .NET isn't a GUI tookit, Delphi isn't either.
Didn't Wolfram show that only a few shapes of sea shells are possible in nature?
The face will be seen when the song is shared as a .wav file.
.wav file.
It is not even needed to share the whole 40 MB.
If you need to listen to the music, use the mp3 file.
If you need to see the face, download a 5 sec (mono?)
Or just buy the CD (If you like the music).
No, you should pattent the opposite:
"Being a PTO and not Behaving in a Dignified Manner"
And sue them for violating your patent
It might be possible to get a patent on some silly peace of software (hyperlinks, databases), and then sue the USPTO for violating your patent.
330, but they only ship in the USA
3) They already knew. Now they will also know it if you get to see it in 46 diffrent states.
There are barcodes on dutch money.
Is "dutch money" the same as "dutch gold" or "dutch courage" or "dutch comfort"?
