Yeah, but his electricity distribution system was shit. It was backed by everyone(who could afford it) at the time, and was well accepted. One could say he had a monopoly on the system, but that was only because there was nobody competing against him. Then came Tesla, with his superior system. Look where that got us. Edison is full of shit.
Damn near everything used in a hospital has to be certified to be used for medical purposes. People's lives are at stake, and you have to be sure that your device operates within tolerances, doesn't crash, doesn't electrocute people, etc. It costs money to think of every possible problem and design a device around that. Also, as other people have said, the people that run these things are some of the most educated people in the world. Try to start a hospital with your $4 device and let me know how it goes.
Yeah, so I have one pair of shorts that I wear every day, and my girlfriend keeps trying to take me shopping to get more shorts. I tell her I want to make my own, and I do! I hate wearing the same damn stuff that everyone else does. I'm not trying to stand out or anything, it just pisses me off how mass produced everything is. I just want my own thing! Same reason why I build my own computers. Same reason I'm trying to make my own watercooling system instead of buying a kit(I'm also poor, though).
At Hen House(stupid grocery store around here for stuck up people), the register monitor acutally displays little pictures of the coins and how many of each to give back!!! That's fucking insane! And that's part of the reason I will never go in there.
First of all, there's hardly any tritium in those. Secondly, The very little radiation there is is blocked by the plastic shell, so it wouldn't be picked up by a pda or geiger counter or whatever. I have one though and it's really cool.
I'm sure I've seen those wireless earbud things for hearing aids. The electronics are worn somewhere on the body, and then it is connected to a metal necklace that "transmits" the sound to the tiny little earpieces so that you don't have to have huge things in your ears. I haven't heard anything about these lately, but I'm sure they exist somewhere.
Back in the day, Henry Ford built a hemp-based car. Most of the body was made of hemp fiber, and it ran on hemp-based fuel. I say screw these new recyclable fibers and just use hemp. It's cheap, strong, and renewable.
The common problems we all faced were that management did not understand the nature of the job performed, and ended up hiring a large agency to take over our "home brew" projects.
No one answer is correct and you are an inconsiderate dumbshit if you keep thinking one is.
Hey dumbass, I'm not the person originally posting how the other movies "were better" than Titanic.
I thought you were dumb and then you went and kept talking and proved it. Those two statements have nothing to do with each other. One could say that one movie is better than the others without saying or even thinking that it is the only answer.
Well your other points really did not contribute any to the discussion so I will not even reply to them.
Oh bullshit. Yes, the movie list is a fact. You can look it up anywhere and it's the same. However, you can look anywhere and you will get different answers for which movie was best. That is an opinion. No one answer is correct and you are an inconsiderate dumbshit if you keep thinking one is.
Box office sales should not mean anything for award shows. Just because a lot of people saw it does not mean it is a good movie and deserves an award(or several). Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers.
Unless someone tells you something is a fact and can provide evidence, or it is common knowledge, you should assume whatever the person is saying is opinion(especially with such an opinionated crowd as slashdot). Therefore, the 'I feel' would be superfluous.
Back ontopic, Titanic was full of dog shit and cat hair and should have never even been nominated.
Here at Truman State they throttle all p2p ports down to about 10% of the total bandwidth(not sure of the total though). There are so many damn many people using it thought that any one person only gets about.5K/sec. I don't mind though. Everything else is fast.
There's quite a bit of good stuff on the internal network though, and thanks to ShareScan, it's easy to get. Also, learn to use IRC. At least at my school, the standard IRC ports aren't blocked or throttled, so you can get everything you need at great speeds, if you know what you are doing.
Okay, not everything fossilizes. If everything did, then when you go to build a house there would be at least 20 skeletons in the ground from various animals that have fossilized. Maybe the conditions just weren't favorable for a half-man half-monkey to fossilize.
FlatLight by E-Lite technologies is an EL strip that can come in lengths of 300 feet and several different widths. Not sure if you can get smaller lenghts. It gets quite expensive, though. 300 feet of inch-wide strip is $1600. You can do some pretty kickass stuff with it, though.
I think I remember seeing something like this on KnowledgeTV(damn fine station until my cable company canceled it). I'm pretty sure someone like DriveSavers can recover data from broken cdroms, and if they can do it I'm sure the government can.
yeah. My old 27" Toshiba has two tuners, for picture-in-picture without needing a vcr. However, this is essentially useless now that we have digital cable and need the boxes. All in all, though, it's a damn nice tv, even though it's almost 10 years old.
afaik with terminal services, the windows are actually drawn using on the client side, rather than transmitting actual images. Lot less bandwidth to send api calls than to send full res images.
Yeah, but the new carts are going to last twice as long as the ones that came with the printer. Using your method, one would spend twice as much since he's getting half the use out of it.
If you have problems with that, then put the cover back on your computer. And I don't think you are going to be cooking very much because microwave ovens are designed to put out microwaves at several hundreds of watts. I don't think that's how these processors are designed.

Who gives a fuck what is on your site? If you had it 4 days ago, why did you even click on it on slashdot? You dumb fucker.
Makes me wonder why medical care costs so much.

It's a 79KB zip file dude. BitTorrent would be horrible for that.

So work for the large agency.

then make a new internet.

Now automate that.

what is even funnier is that cds are digital and lps are analog
Free Solaris on DVD while supplies last.
