    Unix is a programmers OS, written for them, by them.

    I think that that is one of the main reasons for the sucess of OS X. If you attract programmers to your operating system, then you have active developers.

    OS X is like crack for programmers. So easy to start using, so hard to give up.

    Actually, in OS X when you begin to move the icon for something like the iPod, the trash can in the dock disappears and is replaced with an eject icon.

    public schools graduating students with about the same collegiate potential as private ones......and the average public school has VASTLY superior facilities (not to mention better PAID teachers)

    So, basically you're saying that with more funding and more money, the public schools are about the same as the underfunded private schools?

    Many of America's greatest times for prosperity were during large immigrations.

    And what would America be like without all the different cultures? They're mixing pretty well, and it improves the country.

    So what if in 50 years we all speak Spanglish with an Indian accent?

    After all, you can still get G4 computers.....

    Yup. The only problem I've been having is that some things are so damn easy that I can't see how to do them.

    But I'm learning. And if I want to, the Terminal.app is just waiting for me to say hi! :)

    iTunes is really cool.

    Gentoo provides a very important thing to the Linux community.

    They basically make it very easy to beta-test new software, which results in improvements for everyone.

    In fact, I'd say it is almost because of Gentoo that so many compiler warnings have been fixed in source code packages all over the world.

    And it also helps verify that software is truly cross-platform.

    No, the major benefit will be that donations to Gentoo will be tax-deductable, just like GNU, etc.

    Then people are more likely to donate, and they get other benefits, too.

    Uh, the only system I know that really does that is Mac OS X. The single icon (such as FireFox) you see on the desktop is really a directory called FireFox.app, and is totally self contained.

    And you can uninstall by deleting the directory.

    Windows tries to do this, but the registry prevents simple folder removal as an uninstall procedure, because stuff is left in the registry.

    It was $29 so it wasn't cheap, but it allows me to use my precious Model M on my new Powerbook.

    It has both a PS/2 mouse and PS/2 keyboard connector. I've only used the keyboard part.

    Includes graphing on a large screen, full keyboard, etc.

    And runs DOS 5.0!

    Click and hold your main mouse button on the trash can in the dock on OS X.

    It does the same thing as a right click. I don't like it.

    Huh? I'd do almost the exact opposite, and raise the priority of SSH and lower email. email is not time sensitive, and a lower priority means it will arrive 10 seconds later than it would normally.

    Remember that he was playing music. I have some Sennheiser noise cancelling headphones, and when they are on but there is a pause in the music, I can hear people talking 3 or 4 aisles away in a 747. But when the music is playing, it can be hard to hear just 'bout anything.

    Especially if you are from the "it don't sound good until the blood pours."

    Argh! You're right, I meant royal flush. Usually the max bet payoff for royal flush is larger than it should be (i.e. 1 coin pays 15,000, 2 coins pays 30,000, 3 coins pays 90,000) or something like that.....
