Everyone seems to dislike Assange's approach to public relations. But then again, how many people know/knew Anna Politkovskaya? Assange seems to be quite the media's darling and whatever, but that might be essential for his own safety.
Is it just the UK that is fracked up w.r.t. surveillance issues and excessive police rights, or am I just not noticing it in my own country (Italy)? And what about other countries (excluding usual suspects such as China)?
I once confronted a friend of mine from the UK with her countries' big brother issues, and she didn't show any real concerns about these issues and said that everything was fine. Perhaps she isn't noticing, because she does live in the UK?
As technically insignificant as it might be, I never really liked the '.org' in OpenOffice's name. Also, while we're at branding and such, I don't really like those triangles in the LibreOffice logos. Call me crazy, but I think those little details sometimes also matter. After all, people want to use aesthetically pleasing products.
What would you say are the chances of detecting human artifacts in a few million years? I could imagine some signs of technological advancement last quite a bit (architecture, car/airplane relics, railroads,...). Although I can't really quantify that. Perhaps someone else can?
How would you connect the Google Lunar X-Prize to their advertisement-driven marketing? I always fail to see how that connects to Google's business plan.
