The new Iridium satellites ($2.1 billion, next-gen constellation), for instance, will give half of the payload space to their satcom application, and the other part will be for sale to anybody that needs a satellite platform but cannot / doesn't want to use a dedicated one.

Not if you're Italian or speak Italian. But it's always like that, if you're not familiar with some class of objects, it's difficult to tell apart the sub-classes (as in "for Asians all Europeans look alike" and vice versa).
