I don't see this that hard. Every American has a SSN (social security number) I'm sure there is a DB that you could cross check a SSN with a name. You would goto this site, enter your SSN and you name, Bday and sex, then you would have a list of candadets that you select. ( you could write the thing in a more secure java or other language)

Then when another user comes along and enteres the same data it would say that you have voted already, please contact your local voting office that would be manned with people at the phone. Of course reseting votes would have to be a little more complicated that a simple check box.

Also, don't forget, In America people don't vote for the presedent.

    Please read my comment above.

Before the US entered WWII it had a very poor military. It was once the drum roll started that the US military became a real force. This can be seen by visiting any Army base in the US, almost all the buildings you see, including the Pentagon, were built right before the US entered WWII.

Also for the defence of other European nation, the reason most fell to Germany was becouse the thinking after WWI was that it was "The war to end all wars" and that peace will follow. So nations didn't really see a need for a large build up of arms.

Perennial candidate Al Hamburg has lost 14 consecutive bids for President and for Governor, US Senate and Congress. He proudly describes himself as the "Very Independent UNPOPULAR Candidate" -- unpopular, he explains, because the special interests and bureaucrats hate him (well, that ... and maybe also because of the Nazi helmet he's wearing in his photo). A house painter by trade, Hamburg spent nearly twenty years in the Army -- serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He has run for state office repeatedly -- at various times -- as a Democrat, an Independent, and as a member of the now-defunct New Alliance Party. Claiming to be a homeless veteran, Hamburg suddenly popped-up in Nebraska in 2000 -- claimed that state as his new residency -- and filed as a candidate there for US Senator in the Democratic primary. Hamburg is now back in Wyoming and running for President in 2004. He filed FEC paperwork for the race in July 2001."
