Political purpose and government should/should-not aside, what kind of WiFi gear and stragegies would be used to accomplish a city-wide public network?
Seems like a pretty duanting task. All those access points and the volume of devices connecting... Anyone know of any online resources for researching the logistics of setting up large public wireless networks?
Write a song or two a month, throw in the cover tunes, haul the Powerbook and a guitar down to the local coffee shop, play a few songs with the guitar case open, and viola! A few extra bucks that you can use to buy a six pack of beer to take home to do it all over again!
Self perpetuating, and always fun!
What more could you ask for in a side job??? Seriously?
Believe me, it wasn't that cool when you were actually there. haha
Though I agree, it certainly does look/sound like it would be a kick-ass time to be, but, truth is, it was complete culture warefare. "Vice City" just makes it look like we had all our shit together.
I would NEVER have admitted to liking Flock of Seagulls at that time...but now? Hey, I'm a decade and a half removed! Party on!
Great levels, awesome sound effects, the BEST music you'll ever hear in a FPS, and by far the best story line of any space-marine game since. The shadows, sparse lighting and the ever-present knowledge that the aliens were EVERYWHERE.
Wow, great times with that game....and to think I played it on a Centris 650 w/a 25MHz (Yeah, that's TWENTY-FIVE) 68040, and no dedicated 3D hardware. Wow. Good work Bungie. I will forever be grateful for the experience.
Is it just me? Or was the orginal Marathon the best???
Wouldn't it be a major factor in choosing which place you'd like to hang out and toss back a few beers??...if there were lots more pubs with free access points. It'd just be a bonus if the place you like to hang out at would do this.
I mean, the internet and beer just BELONG together! haha
As if it wasn't easy enough to get busted by the wife checking out the bar chicks! Now I've gotta try and sneak in those peeks to the up-skirt shots on the tube??
The effect of this may be immeasureable, but wouldn't use after use of the elevator as an interplanetary launch platform start sapping rational energy from the Earth.
As we start lifting more mass into orbit and throwing more mass off the Earth, our rotational speed drops. Doesn't it?
Longer weekends?? haha Stay out at the bars later at night?? haha
Now it'd be cool to use this thingy as a water heater too, wouldn't it? Keep your PS cool _and_ take a hot shower. Heck yeah.

Just use the accepted spelling or don't feel the need to b#$*& at people who f*#& with it if you 'stray'. Contrary to your belief, you're NOT beginning any revolution. (Does using your own spelling always make you feel better?)
doesn't mean the logic of selling these babies is completely flawed.
There are markets where displays like this are a godsend (publishing, digital video, graphics, etc.), and to be sure, Apple is going to sell every single one of these things it can ship, and STILL not meet anywhere near all the demand. I'm sure the profits are there, too.
So even though you, or _I_ for that matter, can't afford one, Apple's hit the nail right on the head, again.
and look at the real world living and breathing outside the walls of your cool, dark little room.
99% of the consumer market would NEVER give half a piece of crap for the ability to screw with source code, re-compile a kernal, set up a GUI, or scour the 'net for help on how to set up PPP.
To them, the perfect computer is one that you plug in, turn on, and start to play. A great computer is one that is so transparent that it allows you to do what you need to do, with no hassle. The computer is not supposed to get in the damn way.
Take it or leave it, but the Mac is the closest thing this world has to a great computer.
If you don't agree, then I'm pretty sure there are plenty of flashing lights somewhere that need your attention.
Damn! ...and me on a non-Mod day!!
Come on, Mods!! This is the funniest thing I've seen all day!
to corner the worldwide porn market, as the "PS" brand name is remarketed as "PornStation"!!
Sounds like the world's first software company Sex Change!!
No, no, no, it's...

For sure!
I can't remember how many times I've been on the phone explaining the difference between a "click" and a "right-click".
I'd circulate an e-mail that clarifies this, but, it may be less painful to just Sharpie Marker it onto their mice.
