About the time I left (~5 years ago) pay was starting to stagnate and become much less competitive. Older more experienced folks were pushed out and the youngins' are happy with the free rides around campus/perks/quality of life stuff with terrible pay. It really is a race to the bottom at that company as no one I know that is REALLY good at their job still works there.

There have been several good posts already. You coming on here and calling EVERYONE ELSE an asshole except yourself is grand standing and accomplishes quite the opposite of what you claim you want.
In the U.S. most news outlets are one large editorial page...they no longer just call balls and strikes. Journalism as a profession are mostly made of us activists attempting to change public opinion, not reflect it. If you disagree with this, then you are blind to your own biases.
Societies die because people don't value speech with which they disagree. It is easy to categorize anything one doesn't like as hate speech and appeal to authority to cleanse it from one's world. The 20th century has taught us the best way to combat hate speech is not to limit it but to defeat it with well reasoned arguments. Driving speech into a silo will only cause it to fester and grow without common visibility.
I am not saying that government should force any private company to do business in an approved manner. I am saying that it is disturbing that so many including those on this thread are for silencing opposition.
