    Sure would be nice to check this out, but since I'm a loyal Google Apps customer and have my mail hosted with them, I can't use it easily since I can't have a Google profile.

    You are wrong. You can use SA just like a digital VCR and manually record by time and channel. Many people up in Canada do just that.

    They aren't purchasing Windows twice. The licensing they buy is "software assurance" which means they can upgrade the OS's of licenses they have purchased to newer OS's. That is, if they purchased W2K with a machine, they can legally upgrade that machine to XP.

    Does a Tivo have a 80GB HDD?

    Mine has a 120GB.

    Can Tivo's HDD upgraded easily using standard components?

    Mine is a seagate 120GB 7200RPM drive I bought at ncix.com.

    Can Tivo fetch program information via XMLTV?
    Mine does. I have to, I'm a Canadian. I fetch with xmltv via zap2it.

    That said, if TiVo offered service in Canada, I's be all over it.

    This is not quite true. A turbonet card is just a network card for your TiVo. You still have a lot of hacking to do to get your guide data to your TiVo, and the turbonet card won't do the hacking for you. I live in Canada, subscribe to a Canadian Cable Company and have an almost fully functional TiVo. I don't have a TurboNet card. If TiVo ever offered their services in Canada, I would be one of the first to sign up. The hacking is a pain in the a$$.

    My Dad still has our Star NX1000 (Rainbow) printer. His inkjet blew up the other day, and while it was getting repaired, we hooked it up to XP. Still worked! I think it is about 15 years old!

    How about some sort of engine sattelite that would clamp on to the debris and run it out of orbit into space? The sattelite would just need to start it on it's way an let inertia do the rest.
