Unless I'm missreading this, isn't this patent about to expire?
United States Patent 4,734,690 Waller March 29, 1988
If it was granted 3/29/88 and is 17 years in length, one could write code based on it starting Weds and not need to worry. I guess that's why they're filing suit now, been waiting for the maximum number of violations.
I disagree somewhat. I wish that the 'Why are these classes useful' was stressed more. When I was an Undergraduate we required 2 classes of linear algebra. I took both in my Sophomore year. It wasn't till my Senior that that the WHY became apparent in a computer graphics course. I felt somewhat cheated that I couldn't appreciate the reason why we were learning something at the time that it was originally learned.
Probably because the other MMO's you've looked at are MMP**RPGS** where the CHARACTER skill not the player skill is what should determine a win or a lost. That is not to say that playing a current generation requires no skill, it is to say that the fundamental burden is upon the character not the player. The difference between an MMRPG and Puzzle Pirates is the difference between D&D and Magic: The Gathering. Both are games, one is a Roleplaying game, the other is not.
Off topic but amusing let's see if the moderators think it balances out!
When I was in College I had a brand new and blinding fast 386/SX-16 that I wanted to play Wing Commander on. Alas it was designed to be run on a 4.77Mhz XT and I could not control the ship at the blinding speed. However I quickly thought to load up the new at the time Windows 3.0 and play Wing Commander in a dos box from that. This worked flawlessly and led to my tag line of, 'Windows, the 8086 Emulator for your 80386!'
Not really... That one is making fun of the current article, state entities are aloud to deceive customers. Gov. Schwarzenegger is therefore allowed to deceive people by selling 'herbal supplements' presumably with outragous claims as to their effeects...
I assume by 'Ever heard of the "Rule of Thumb"' you mean Ever hear of that urban legend of the origin of the phrase? Yah, I've heard that legend and seen it debunked pretty thoroughly.
Myth: The phrase "rule of thumb" originated in a man's right to beat his wife provided the stick was no wider than his thumb.
Fact: This is an urban legend that is still taken seriously by activist law professors and harassment workshoppers. The Oxford English Dictionary has more than twenty citations for phrase "rule of thumb" (the earliest from 1692), but not a single mention of beatings, sticks, or husbands and wives.
(For a definitive debunking of the hoax see Henry Ansgar Kelly, "Rule of Thumb and the Folklaw of the Husband's Stick," The Journal of Legal Education, September 1994.)
I think what both original posters are missing is the line from the review:
'about 22,300 miles,' next to a diagram showing the number 20,300 miles. Regardless as to wether or not 22,300 miles is close to 22,239 miles, it's NOT close to 20,300 miles which is what the diagram showed.
I have yet to be at a game company that DID allow a burner on your desktop. All the ones I've been at any burning even a Linux ISO had to go through the 'Mastering Lab'
Having just finished the series, I actually lament the fact. I thought it was much more interesting as a detective story seeing how she balances dealing with the Monsters without being one. Instead it has slid into a rather derivitive work of let's see what erotic-goth we can introduce this time and how fast she can slide into bohemianism. Any detective 'plot' is mentioned in the first 30 pages and then forgotten about to the last 20...
Or just see if Blockbuster follows up last year's release with this years...
Their deal was $21 for FOTR on opening day *AND* a certificate for 10 free DVD rentals (A rental at the time was I think $3.49?) As long as you rationalize it that you're buying it for the DVD rentals they're paying you to rent almost 4 DVDs and giving you a free copy of FOTR, so the least you can do is buy the extended version when it came out since you got the first for free... Right?:)
The amusing thing of course, is that in general MUDs can get a higher concurrant user per CPU. Remember when everquest has 80,000 people on that's across 40 instances of their server each one being made up of about 35-40 machines. In general one zone = one CPU. As such, at max EQ probably only has 150 people per CPU and able to interact with eachother where it was pointed out that some MUDs (BatMud for sure) has peaked over 300 players per CPU.
B5 had multiple uses of the centerfuge. The Omega class destroyer reminded me a lot of the Russian ship in 2010. And the station itself rotated at different velocities around a central core providing many different gravities for the different species living there.
heh I was about to post that when I saw your reply. I was reading it and thought it sounded familiar... Hey it got 5 Interesting last time! 3 more points to go...
Actually that's what the black ink on a red card was referring to. text was imprinted on a manual and then covered over with other text such that when viewed through a red filter you could read the underlining text. of course if you tried to photocopy the page all you would get is a black block that could not be read.
Unfortunately any drop in sales is due to piracy. Therefore the RIAA needs to take even more extraordinary measures to combat this significant drop in sales.
Dunno where you're from but around here if you're doing 90MPH and go 60Mi you arrive in 40 minutes or 20 minutes faster then the person doing 60MPH... Cutting travel time by 1/3rd over and over again adds up to quite a bit more then 'a measly 10 minutes or so' (Which is not to say that I advocate 90MPH constantly, but I am pointing out an alternate viewpoint.)

The problem with the movie Starship Troopers was that it was based on the back of a book by Robert Heinlein...
X-Men 2 trailer, used Holst, but then again almost everyone uses Holst...
Do you have a source for that statistic? I haven't heard it quoted before...

Perhaps he's the Area Man Constantly Mentioning He Doesn't Own A Television? Would be my first guess from the post...

Which just means that we need to run the database under a linux instance of vmware running on an XP, in VirtualPC on an G4 OSX box someplace!

I'd mostly say, "His works have been getting more attention since his death."
Blade Runner,
Total Recall,
Screamers,
Imposter,
Minority Report,
and now 'Paycheck'
Or just see if Blockbuster follows up last year's release with this years...

I'm kind of curious how you make that statement, in each of the above definitions you provide, the ESR definition is prefered to your definition.

Ok I just outted myself as a geek.

You are probably referring to: The Onion's article to that affect...

How about 411? (Directory Assitance in most of the US)
