The great part about being a programmer for the Air Force is how easy it was to get a waiver to use a more appropriate language. ADA was used in tech school and that was about it.

Now that I've left I STILL find ADA code running from the 70s. Upgrading it is a major bitch but If you are going to sling code for the government it would be good to know the basics.

The ability to import java and c into ADA are a real boon.

The coolest part about the Movement of Octopus is the fact that only the body desides where to go. It's up to the legs to figure out how they're going to get there.

If you ever get down the the Aquarium of the Americas you can get a pretty good display of this. Just make sure you make it for one of the feeding times 'cause the feeders do all the classic Octopus tricks(fish in a bottle, fish in a tank, fish with mirrors, mazes, etc).

    The midnight show

Buried in last Saturday's Gazette so few would see it was the news that Adelphia is moving the time of The Daily Show from 9 p.m. to midnight.

We now have yet another thing to complain to Adelphia about and I hope your team has some ideas about how to protest this. Letters to Sandra Mann or something? It's another strike by the conservatives in this city. I pay $91.80 per month to Adelphia for cable service (of which we watch five channels) and the Internet. For the first time ever, I'm going to call the satellite companies if this doesn't get changed.

Please, please, please make this a big issue in your paper. It's supposed to go into effect on Dec. 20. I think that people who don't know about this will be more than eager to get the change stopped.

    Colorado Springs

Editor's note: Adelphia's toll free telephone number is 800/626-6299. Readers who are enraged about the plan to move Jon Stewart's Daily Show to the wee hours of the night should also contact the Independent via e-mail at degette@csindy.com

As of yet I still havn't gotten a reason for this move from adelphia. Anything to stop antiWar or Bush comedy from making it to the Airwaves I guess.

That is the actual name of a DJ here in Colorado Springs. His parents were from Europe( Hungary I think) and his name is really pronounced like "jock".

Needless to say the radio contests like "Beat Mehoff!" and "Can you jack Mehoff?" where widely considered rude until they found out that that was his real name and to get a life.

It was still nice to see "Mehoff the intern" become Jack Mehoff the DJ.

    Scary natch.
