I don't think Sony understand the difference between console gaming, at home, and hand-held gaming, on the go. They are different experiences, requiring different types of games.
The PSP, it would seem, is going to have a library of PS2 ports and clones. Whilst this in itself is not a bad thing, I don't think it's ideal for portability. Most people that will be buying a PSP already have a PSP, does sony really think that people are that interested in buying scaled-down versions of their home game offerings?
Why not innovate, or at least embrace the word "portable" with simpler games. Advance Wars is a great example of the ideal portable game. It's not overly complex game, yet tons of fun.
Keep in mind that many of the issues you describe existed in BF1942 1.0 as well. After a couple point releases, I'm sure the game will be more than up to par.
This reminds me, I'm in the process of building a new pc and want to get the opinion of the shack collective on what is the best antivirus software.
I've looked everywhere, and TrendMicro's PC-Cillin, McAfee AV, and Norton AV all seem to rank high. Is any one of these really better than the others? Have I left the best one off my list?
Obviously finding virii is paramount, but a low footprint is also welcome.
Which is kinda making it a bit antequated. I mean, we all already have the original communicator (cell phones), we've got teleportation working (kinda, only a few particles at a time over short distances but still).
Point is, Star Trek is highly based on "science", which is how Gene wanted it. Unless they can find a way to move away from the science, and do more morality stuff, then yea they need to pause.
Maybe in a decade or two we can revisit Star Trek, only it'll be the Next Next generation. Ugh, and let's pretend the temperal stuff never happened.
Light Sabers changed for Vader versus Ben Kenobi Death Star duel.
TractorBeam control now in Aurebesh.
Han and Greedo scene slightly changed (everyone's seen this).
Jabba the Hutt redone from Special Edition Jabba.
Boba Fett still mugs camera.
Han still steps on tail - "You're a wonderful human being" - still there.
(The scene is an improvement over the SE - however, still not great.)
Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Emperor replaced with Ian McDiarmid.
Dialogue in this scene has been slightly modified, indicating either that the Emperor knows it was Luke who nuked the Death Star, or that he is Vader's son. Maybe both. Otherwise, dialogue remains in tact. Emperor's theme from Jedi also added into the scene.
Episode VI: Return of the Jedi:
Hayden Christenson has replaced Sebastian Shaw only in the Force Ghost shot.
Line about Leia remembering her mother while talking to Luke on the Ewok Village veranda has either been omitted, or modified.
Naboo has been added to the final planetary celebration montage at the end of the movie. It is a shot very similar to the helicopter shot of Theed in TPM when AATs are moving up the street towards the palace.
Original Trilogy Bonus Materials Extras:
Episode III teaser trailer.
Episode III Vader "making of" featurette.
Easter Egg: Warwick Davis short film of Wickett the Ewok fighting Boba Fett on the Death Star II, shot as a gag during the filming of Return of the Jedi.
The hand-written mail I send is also clear, non-encrypted text. Should the USPS be able to read that too?
I expect that those transporting my messages don't read it. It is a crime to open someone's snail mail, should't we apply the same rule to email? Or *.mail?
The xbox has limited HD space. If they allowed developers to release patches, it would more rapidly fill users drives and it would open the floodgates on bug acceptibility at launch. i.e. "It's okay to release in this state because we can patch it later..."
I think a better solution would be to send replacement discs with fixes to those that have already purchased the game, and begin putting pre-patched versions on the shelves.
As I said, the last thing we (users) want is for buggy games to be acceptable. It is important that Microsoft exert the same level of quality control required for the other two consoles.
I'm not flaming or trolling here, I love each and every game in the Zelda series. But is anyone else a little spooked by this interview?
This guy is taking a big, big role on all future Zelda projects, and he's spooked by games that require jumping?!? Thought Zelda 1 was too hard?! Somehow I think Miyamoto's final touches to the last few Zelda games have been much more significant than Aonuma cares to admit...
It's also weird to see how much budget has played a role in the Zelda storylines and gameplay. Then again, I suppose that innovating within restraints is a part of any job.
Here's to hoping that Zelda continues to entertain for years to come!
Perhaps "surfing" on lava is a bit of an exageration? I can see them fighting on a rock bridge, it breaks (perhaps anakin slashes at it?) and they fall into the lava. The lava is flowing in a certain direction and they fight on the floating rock(s) until they are able to get off of them.
For all we know this could actually be how things go... All pray that he doesn't alter it [any further]...
Anyway... If either Anakin or Ben says 'cowabunga', I'm walking out.
He's probably doing this because Gamestop offered him $50 for it all :)

No, Battlefront uses it's own engine not the BF1942 one. Check out the faq on http://www.starwarsbattlefront.com
With the 21st right around the corner, expect this to get Foxed shortly thereafter. Unfortunate, but understandable from Lucasarts POV.

"so I may not understand the deeply compelling reasons driving such a design decision."
*raises hand*
Because since the late 90s EVERY PROGRAM must use the internet in some way. Useful or not. Anyone else notice this trend?
Yes, but before Xbox Live there was this:

As far as I know it was indeed the first online capable console. There were quite a few games for it, only in Japan, like a special version of Zelda.
Episode IV: A New Hope DVD:

So how will they make this fit with the Classic Trek episode Balance of Terror
They won't.
I read that last line as " Spirit and Opportunity will compete six months on the Martian surface on July."
I hope they do. Might as well go out with a bang after such success. Might be a way to get funding too.
Hmmmmm... Makes me wonder... Will there be a special edition DVD for the theatrical release of the extended edition DVD?
I just hate to buy and then rebuy later to get the additional content.
Then just wait until the 2nd or 3rd "edition" before buying?
The hand-written mail I send is also clear, non-encrypted text. Should the USPS be able to read that too?
I expect that those transporting my messages don't read it. It is a crime to open someone's snail mail, should't we apply the same rule to email? Or *.mail?
Wait. This thing is PG-13? What does that mean? No more nudity? Less violence? What was the first one rated?

Sony has released a dev kit, MS has got XNA in the works. The real company that should be worried is Nintendo... not Microsoft.
So how many years before Highlander 2?...
Actually it's:
1. Windows
2. Trillian,
3. Winrar,
4. Firefox,
5. Winamp,
6. SmartFTP,
7. Azureus,
8. NMap,
9. GKrellM,
10. PowerDVD.
I think it's reasonable to say that technology should always cater to users, not the other way around. Otherwise, what's the point?
I have winpcap installed, but you are correct... I cannot see any interfaces.
