Whilst Sony may have Havok signed on, the 360 has "XNA" which already includes a physics library. It's no middleware, but it already available. This has been available for some time now.
Most anime sucks. Just like most movies suck, and most games suck. So that takes care of 80% lets say.
What about the rest? Well, there's no marketing... Pricess Mononoke, Akira, GITS2... all of them had marketing behind them (as in tv commercials that aired in the states), anow now all three are very popular. If the Japaneese really want to sell the shit over here, it's time to advertise.
Your argument has a big flaw. Why go after the market of people w/ the 50" TVs? I'll tell you why... because those people buy shit loads of games. I mean, if they've got the cash for a huge TV I'd say the likely hood that they have the cash for a decent game collection is good.
Could someone kindly explain to me what the major differences are between this and WoW? I've never played the beta and I'm curious about switching. Plus you'll get +5:)
And on top of that I'd also suspect this means the Xbox 360 hardware is going to cost a lot for quite a while... I'm thinking it'll take well over a year to go below $300.
Wait... So first "you guys" complain that Nintendo doesn't listen enough and needs to "get with the times", and now you're saying Nintendo should ignore what their buyers want? That's stupid in so many ways (financial just being one).
I'd be willing to bet that, before you actually played WW you were concerned if not angry about the design change from it's predacessor.
So before you jump the gun and trash this game for looking too much like Ocarina Of Time (the best selling Zelda game ever I believe), maybe you should wait until the controller is in your hand. That's where Zelda games have always shown. Superb gameplay and controls. Not necessarily design.
You could say the same for their "search engine". Years ago there were dozens of them. Lycos, Altavista, Yahoo. Why "bother" competing with those guys? Search engines too have profit margins. Think of all the up front development cost. Hardware cost.
Just because Windows is a beast, it doesn't mean it's not slay-able. And he who does slay that beast stands a chance to make a great deal of money... What was once Microsofts money...
The immediate goal is not profit, but growth of a "potential". Right now that 90% number you mentioned is getting in a lot of people's way. Reduce that deskop % and you increase your chance to sell your own plus apps to sit on top of it.
Think Xbox. The goal of the xbox was not profit. It was to reduce the % of market-share owned by the PS2 (and to some extent GameCube) so that the Xbox 2 would have a larger profitability margin and have a wider selection of games (meaming Microsoft intends to actually make $$ on the hardware this time).
Why does everyone keep saying "nooo! google won't make an os! no u!"? Given what google has done w/ the web, and the amount of money they now have, it would be STUPID not to try and get into the OS market. We all know now that thin-client pcs that run remote web apps isn't going to happen. Hardware prices fall so fast, and everything's getting so small, it's more economical to have a MacMini that to have some huge server farm out there in the ether running everyone's apps.
So in order to compete further with Microsoft, they're going to have to create an alternate platform (think beOS) to increase their revenue. There's only so much they can do (like ad a calendar etc) to finish building their yahoo-like empire. With Google's insane cash-flow, they could easily repurpose a linux distro + wine + firefox into a very OSX like OS for intel/amd that is, to some extent, windows compatible.
Aparently you haven't played Anachronox. Whilst many would not consider it up to the standards of Deus Ex, it's still a damned fine game. One of the best PC RPGs to date.
Am I the only gamer that has finally grown tired of the hand-held controller input scheme? Isn't it time we dawn some sort of VR goggles or other similar display and perhaps a new input method? Or is the next generation of consoles going to be identical to the last (and the one before that!) with more ram, processing power, etc?
I know that Nintendo is working on a new type of controller, and that might be enought to persuade me to purchase their console over the other two. But really, I think it's time someone take a larger leap foward than touting it can render toy-story in realtime and has uber magic special online abilities.
I invest on the side. It's relatively easy to make money with your money if you do it right. Plus it doesn't require you to sacrafice all your free time.
I'm sure it will have a big impact on PC gaming, but not console gaming. And console gaming is where most of the money and populus is. So saying it will have a MAJOR impact on the gaming world is not accurate. It will have a major impact on PC gaming only, which is less than 30% of the overall "gaming" market.
Seeing how lots of characters were in the Krypt in the last game, isn't it highly likely that these characters will be too?
And even if that is not the case, since some of these characters do indeed have moves (read the articles for info), I'd say they at least have plans for adding these characters via Xbox Live.
The original Zelda isn't on the list. This list doesn't count.

Oh that sucks because I had this idea for a game where...
Mod your xbox and you'll find an INSANE amount of community software... I'd expect this trend to continue through to the 360 as well.

I hate to tell you this, but "marketing" isn't going away anytime soon...

I highly doubt it because that would be MORE complicated than a static controller that you can at least memorize after enough time.
God I wish I hadn't just gotten rid of the last of my mod points...

Non-repetitive levels.

So basically, Firefox is now (somewhat) ad subsidized?
