If a blimp could be created to either carry beer to me from my fridge to my couch, I would easily buy it.
On an almost serious note, it might be neet to combine slashdot stories here. What if the "Beer and Bluetooth" idea could be combined with the blimp from this story. A bluetooth camera mounted on a blimp that traveled around the bar and took a picture every 10-15 seconds and then posted the picture on a big screen and archived in the gallery.
Can I copyright these ideas? Nah, nevermind. But they're GPL'd!
Good link! I've been using this PHP gallery that does prety well the same thing for about a year now. It's great.

WOW, I love it, but how much will it cost the band

Instant Concert CDs?

This is a great idea. I would love to buy a CD of the concert that I just experienced. I think everyone who's ever attended a concert and seen all of the audio production going on has thought why the concert producers couldn't do something like this. Being able to take an actual piece of the concert away with you would add a lot of value to expensive concerts.
However, bands would have to worry about concert sales. I'm sure that a couple of hours after a concert ends, all of the audio would be all over the net. Would this effect record sales?
I would love to have the option of buying a CD of the concert that I just heard. It would make expensive concerts seem like you get a little more value because you can actually take the memories away with you.
You really have to wonder about the concequenses though. Bands would immediatly have their concert converted to MP3 and on the net within hours. Would people stop going to concerts?
My school bought a licence of McAfee that allowed everyone attending classes to have a legit copy.
I think that your right in that College students should be given virus and firewall software for free, but I think that it should be the responsibility of the network that they connect to the internet through. Most likely the school they attend. Perhaps ISP's should be picking up a bit of the bill for "internet only virus" scanners.
I think that Microsoft is trying very hard to create the standard rather then accept a standard. As in the past, Microsoft wants to have ownership of important software and video is the next major software hurdle.
Why do people continue to buy Microsoft hardware? They have a long track record of introducing refined hardware that they only support for at the most a few years.
Remember the Microsoft Phone, or the Sidewinder Gamepad? Even the recent Microsoft Broadband home router is starting to have some support issues.
Although I think that Microsoft releases some interesting hardware, I certainly question spending a couple of hundred bucks on hardware from a company that won't support it.
Why are tax software companies trying to make people pay like this? I don't understand what makes companies like quicken, intuit and Microsoft any different.
Tax laws change every year. I'd be more then happy to pay a small amount each year for the latest updates. It costs them money to integrate the changes and update the software that I've already bought for $30.
I think they're banking on people reasoning that they would be paying an accountant.
I've printed a picture and I'll be keeping my eyes open while I wonder around Toronto.
I've also posted a link to a couple of Canada based fourms in the hopes that other people will do the same for you.
I feel very bad that you could not spend Christmas with your daughter. From what I've read on the site that you created and on the sites that you linked to, it sure sounds like you'll see her again. Hopefully you can take what little solace lies in that.
I hope that my attitude is becoming more typical. If everyone felt that the system needed an update from the finger print method of identifying criminals, there would be change in the system and perhaps less crime. Defiantly not more.
You brought up some great points about finger printing. That's exactly why we need a new system.
I wonder what the reaction of Slashdot would be if fingerprinting was a new technology?
I can only imagine the uproar of privacy concerns and issues relating to the technology behind it.
I'm not one to give up my privacy, but as crimes have become drastically more violent and their impact greater on society because of the media, isn't it time to update the system?
Wish I had some Karma to give, that's an interesting question.
If it is legal to trade images of albums, would it them be legal to trade sound wave images?

That sure would have been a funny "add-on" scene to the movie Office Space.

Release a new game in stores, release an old game that anyone can play over the net.
Simcity did it not too long ago. You can play the origional SimCityonline.

That sounds about right :)

First, "Where Wizards Stay up Late: The Origins of the Internet" gives you a great history lesson on the internet from pre ARPA to the present.7 08214X/qid=1033932106/sr=1-9/ref=sr_1_9/104-182014 6-7795912?v=glance

Next, "Network models in population biology" talks about how networks form in nature.

It's interesting to read the above articles keeping these books in mind because of the clear picture we can gain from nature.
The Internet is a dynamic place. I don't think that a traditional study can accuratly describe the effects that it has on us.
I think that this study will be outdated as soon as it is written.
Before I found out about the chkrootkit program, I used IPTRAF to have a look at my connection.
:)
There were many, UDP packets being sent thru my server.
That'll teach me not to read the news updates

Ya, it is about perspective.
I was referring to the job a police officer does, not specifically what s/he remembers in their lifetime. A cop regularly observes crime scenes.
So, I'll rephrase. Go ask an old cop if they think that the crimes they observe on a day-to-day basis have become more or less violent.
Media provides marketing for violent crimes.
Go ask an old cop if they think that crimes have become more violent.
Canada has its downsides too. Have you ever tried to get a coffee and a donut here at 7am? It's not pretty.

Now maybe we can finally get someone working on the tuxedo from the Jackie Chan movie.
What ever happened to pirate radio?
I guess that streaming music over the internet has taken much of the need away. But I wonder if you could setup an old style pirate radio station.
Wish I had some Karma to give, that's an interesting question. If it is legal to trade images of albums, would it them be legal to trade sound wave images?
